Hi All,

 

Recently i have encountered some error in my network that is usually working and noticed when using tracert have a loop.





The first one is doing tracert from site a to site b which is weird because it's going to different VLAN before going back to where it is and looping.

and the second one from site b to site a which just loop.

The VPN configuration is a Manual IPsec, with two VPN cofig in Site A as IPsec Failover, and one config in Site B.

I belived this is not normal, any tips on this ?

May I know what is your network topology?

It is mentioned that you have VLAN and VPN connection, so any configuration screenshot would be appreciated.

This is normal.  Since you have a gateway at both ends, it hits the gateway IP twice - one on the VPN > Gateway transition and one on the Gateway>LAN transition.  It doesnt show the WAN ip of the gateway because it has a tunnel (VPN) up which terminates on the LAN side of the gateway CPU.  The gateway has to process those VPN packets (trace hit 1) and then forward them downstream to LAN (trace hit 2)
