Firmware Version: 1.1.5

Hello everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with my TP-Link Tapo C545D and I’m wondering if anyone else has seen the same behavior or found a solution.

My camera is monitoring a parking area. When a car is parked and completely stationary inside the detection zone, the camera continuously sends “Vehicle Detected” notifications, even though the vehicle is not moving at all.

The pattern is very consistent:

  • I often receive a notification every 3 minutes, and each recorded clip is exactly 3 minutes long.
  • Sometimes the notifications arrive every 1 minute, with 1-minute recordings.
  • As soon as one recording ends, another one immediately starts, even though nothing has changed in the scene.
  • All false detections are coming from the PT (pan/tilt) camera.
  • Recordings are stored locally on a microSD card inside the camera.

I have already:

  • Updated the firmware
  • Reduced Vehicle Detection sensitivity from 5 down to 2
  • Checked the detection zone settings

Unfortunately, the behavior remains exactly the same.

It seems that the camera repeatedly re-detects the same parked vehicle as a new event instead of recognizing it as a static object.

Has anyone found a workaround or a reliable fix for this?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Thank you for your post.

Vehicle detection is designed to identify moving vehicles in your camera's view. However, stationary vehicles can sometimes trigger alerts, particularly when lighting changes, shadows move across the vehicle, or other environmental factors that the camera might interpret as movement.

For your issue, please refer to this article to do some trobleshootings: What should I do if my Tapo camera triggers false detection?

If the issue persists after adjusting the settings, it is recommended to follow up with the support team for a deeper check.

Best Regards,
