Model: EAP245
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20230417

Hello

I have 2 separate networks running which I have divided into 2 VLAN IDs on a Dlink switch:
VLAN ID 1: My DSL provider in the wired network with router (DHCP)
VLAN ID 6: Starlink (DHCP)

First I switch the port on my Dlink switch on which I operate the EAP 245 to VID 1 untagged. Now I come to the EAP245 user interface and can set up the device.
I set up 2 WiFi networks:
One I call "DSL" enable VLAN on port 1
The other one I call "Starlink" enable VLAN on port 6
Then I switch to Management -Management Access-Management VLAN and set this to VLAN ID 6 and press SAVE.

Now I go back to the Dlink Switch and set the port in VID 1 to Tagged and also VID 6 to Tagged.

Now the “Starlink” WLAN works without any problems, the mobile device logs on receives an IP from the Starlink router and the EAP 245 also received a dynamic IP from the Starlink router.
The WLAN "DSL" doesn't work. I log in but don't get an IP address assigned.

Using the new IP, I go back to the user interface of the EAP245 (in the Starlink WLAN) and change the Management Access Management VLAN to 1 and press SAVE.

Now the EAP245 is no longer accessible to me from any network, I can't even access it via the WLAN "DSL" because I don't get an IP address assigned there and the EAP245 didn't get an IP from the router there either.

In order to access the EAP245 again I have to reset it to factory settings.

I still use an old EAP245 V1.0 that works without any problems with an identical configuration.

Maybe use a VLAN ID other than 1?  That one is 'special' in TPlink Omada land.

My only problem is that almost all of my VLAN devices work in VLAN 1.
I have 7 of the Dlink switches alone. VLAN 6 is only used to play Starlink on all WLAN APs via the same infrastructure.
There are 6 APs running on the old WLAN infrastructure under Omada 3.2.16 alone. Changing all that would be crazy.

I did notice that the only version of firmware posted for the 245v4 seems to 'recommend a 5.x' controller and you are still on v3.x right?

Can you try a temp second instance of a v5 sw controller running on a laptop, and see if you can adopt/configure the v4 correctly?

You could also try Forgetting it and doing a manual config to see if it plays nice if the above is too much.

Short story, I don't think TPlink will change firmware to improve the backward compatibility with v3.x controllers.

You are right, 245V4 needs a 5.x controller. Therefore I cannot adopt it with my 3.2 controller.
But I'm trying to run 245V4 with just the web interface.
But I was able to solve the problem for myself in the meantime.

I returned the 245V4 and got a used EAP245V1 on eBay.
