Problems with Norton Security

I have installed an adapter and extender to make use of my power cables to extend my network. To communicate with the extender I downloaded powerlineutility.exe to communicate with the hardware. As soon as the program was unzipped.my Norton Security deleted it saying it was unsafe. A look at the details showed that thousands of Norton users had used the file. I am some what confused. Why this problem with a major hardware supplier's software? And how do I get round it?
