@Dst12345

Hi, may I know the model number of this Car?

By the way, normally the US version would support channel 1-11, not channel 12 and 13;

Would restarting the Deco or clicking network optimization force the Deco to change to another Deco?

Thank you.

@TP-Link Tesla Model X 2017 year.

yes running network optimisation will sometimes randomly put it onto a useable channel.

Hi, Currently, there is still no plan to add support for manually changing the channel;

But the later firmware update will avoid using channels 12 and 13 for 2.4ghz in case some smart devices failed to detect the 2.4ghz;

Thank you.

I want my 3 tp-link mesh units to MANUALLY select channel 11.. but NO the Deco app says channels 1 or 6 ARE BEST !! as they have fewer clashes (for good reason) i.e.

 electromagnetic interference from microwaves & neighbors' equipment ... but Deco & tp-link think they know better than me...It is VERY ARROGANT not to trust & listen to your loyal customers... As others have said one of your competitors have a better and more customisable mesh solution. If this issue isn't fixed by tp-link in Q3 of 2021 I WILL throw away your otherwise good kit (Covid & working from home has made this previously minor annoyance an untenable issue)  You will lose years of my goodwill & recommendations of tp-link products to friends, acquaintances and work colleagues.

Also you could make a habit of placing as much honest reviews at TP-link product sites as possible with references to this thread, warning people of what they will have face when buying these products.

Not aiming at you specifically, you probably know what you are doing, but below is scan of WiFi networks that reach my house. First two networks are my Deco mesh, 5GHz and 2.4GHz, the rest are from neighbors. Notice something interesting in channel selection by these networks?

First time I saw that I was surprised, but then figured when people Google for "what is the best 2.4GHz WiFi channel" and told it is 1,6 and 11 - they set it manually in their router and forget about it.

Not that I complain: my Deco WiFi mesh is running with less interference because of that. Can't say the same about my neighbors.

I have a very specific reason for wanting *some* control over channel. My cycling GPS requires channel 1-9. That costs more than my Deco system and leads my requirements. I currently have my ISP provided 2.4 ghz WiFi also on for this use case and am considering my options. By not providing ‘some’ control you ignore that some consumer devices cannot use all 2.4ghz bands. Your answer of ‘what’s the point in even buying mesh if you want to exert any control’ is somewhat ignorant on your part. Though I also think some people’s reactions on here are a bit overboard.

Hi,

I have a 2 Deco devices and noticed both are using the same CH4.
Why not split, say CH4 and CH9?

@ragnakore

One of the primary intents of a "mesh" is that client devices can seamlessly move from one area to another without 'dropping' a connection; that (currently) can't happen unless all the devices are using the same channel.
