Model: TL-WPA8630P KIT
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hi

I just purchased the Powerline WPA8630 kit with 1 extender. Allows me to hardwire some devices in front room - well away from my router. Works brilliantly for ethernet. Wi-fi is a bit patchier and thus my query.

Prior to yesterday's purchase I was using a TP-Link RE450 wi-fi extender. I still have some downspots in the house and my query is: "Can I synch the RE450 up to the WPA extender or does it only synch with the router?"

Hi,

The RE450 can work with the WPA8630 together; while cause the network topology will become: main router --- main adapter  -- powerline--WPA8630 )))((( ER450, compared to connecting RE450 to the main router directly, the performance will be reduced.

Good day.

Thanks Kevin_Z. So it sounds like the ER450 will automatically pick up the wi-fi from the powerline extender - but with reduced performance

Hi,

Yep, it is RE450, it can connect to the WPA8630 by wireless, below is the instruction to setup:

And they are both dual band; per I said, the performance of the RE450 will be affected the actual network environment.
