Model: Archer VR400
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

I'm looking to replace my ISP's DSL router as I need something with hairpin NAT (aka. NAT loopback). I have my eye on the Archer VR400 and VR600. I've seen threads mentioning hairpin NAT on a few other models. Could anyone confirm that the VR400 or VR600 support haipin NAT? I don't want to end up in a no refunds situation with some retailer.

NAT loopback is enabled by default, no option to turn it off on the web UI.

@Kevin_Z

Hello, do VR300 support NAT loopback? I currently have problem with it.

I have xx.tplinkdns.com/ DDNS.

I have port forwarding setup.

I can reach from inside LAN with IP 192.168.1.101 to my local server.
I can reach from outside of the LAN with DDNS

From inside LAN, I cannot reach with DDNS. As far as I understand, modem should NAT hairpin to make it work. Is this possible with VR300? Otherwise I would try same thing with VR400?

Somewhere on internet, I saw all TP-Link modems support NAT hairpining.

@e_g_loco

I contacted Turkish TP-Link Live chat, responsible guy didn't know anythign about NAT hairpin.

I wrote here and didn't get any reply. (yet)

AS I stated before, somewhere on internet, I saw all TP-Link modems support NAT hairpining. (opensimulator page)

I bought VR300 and it didn't support it. I returned it.

I bought VR400. I liked that modem a lot more. Much better interface and much more capabilities.

I set up IPs and port forwarding. I tried to my ddns adrress from local network and viola it worked!

I am writing this so that other users that landed this page like me can buy VR400 with confidence for NAT Hairpin capability.

@Kevin_Z Googleing endlessly only finds TP Link Router owners asking how to enable NAT Loopback and TP Link reps saying it's already enabled by default.  NAT Loopback clearly doesn't work on these Routers, at least not straight out of the box.  I have a brand new VR400 with the most recent firmware and NAT Loopback does not work.  I need a work around or a fix urgently.

@e_g_loco Is your VR400 running the most recent firmware, is NAT loopback still working?  I have a static IP so I'm not using the DDNS feature and NAT loopback is not working for me.
