TL-MR6400 disconnected many times per day
Hi everybody,
My Internet left many times per day on my TL-MR6400 v4, just bought....
When the problem happened, all lights of the modem are on.
I saw many users have same problem with different models of 4G modem. I saw answers given by tp-link staff.
So I create a manual apn profile, set manual dns servers on dhcp menu (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), check 4G connection with my phone but the problem is persistent.
Nothing appears in the system log, all steps indicate "pass" in diagnostic menu...
So I need to reboot the modem and it works again. So please help

@JimDaniels good point, more detail below:
Model: TL-MR6400 v4.0 (EU)
Firmware Version:1.10.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 190521 Rel.38696n
Hardware Version:TL-MR6400 v4 00000001
The issue is that connection goes down and then either needs a power cycle or a long wait to come back. When offline the diagnostics recognises it is offline, but connection is usually not restored.

Thanks for your information, to give you a specific answer, we need more details.
1. What is the current firmware version? Please check the country version of it as well, it is printed on the back label of the actual device, next to the model number.
2. What is the led status of the MR6400 when it lost 4G connectivity? At the same time, try to log in to the web UI and get some screenshots, including status page, network map, advanced-network-internet page.
3. Have you ever tried to change another SIM card? With this SIM card inserted into cellphone, does it work well?
4. How often it loses connection and how do you make it work?
Good day.

Hi Kevin
I am also having problems with this modem. TL-MR6400 hardware version V4 00000002 firmware 1.16.0.0.9.1 Build 191223 Rel.66638n.
The speed detected by the speed test is very low, is way lower compared to the speed obtained using a smartphone as an hotspot.
These are the speedtest average values when my laptos is connected to smartphone hotspot:
8.5 mbps download 12 mbps upload 32 ms latency
while these are the values when connected to the tplink device:
0.4 mbps download 1.2 mbps upload 65 ms latency
Even the connection is not stable, often disconnections are observed.
I tried with 2 different sims (Italian) from different operators(Iliad and tre) but the result is the same.
Could I also have the beta firmware to test if the situation improves please?
Thanks in advance.
Massimo

1. The current firmware version is: 1.12.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 190730 RC.59984n.
I already written the country/area in previous post. There is only written that its model TL-MR6400(EU)
2. All leds are lit. When I log in web UI the router doesn´t show that there is something wrong even on advanced tab and everithing looks absolutely normal.
3.Yes, I tried it with other SIM cards and the result was same after few hours of usage.
Original SIM card works perfectly on my backup router that I put on the same spot as RM6400 was.
4. Several times per day. Sometimes even multiple times per hour. I don´t. Restart used to work as a repair for mulfunctioning but not until few days ago. Now even after restart it loses conection after few minutes of usage.
Thanks for your reply.
Have a nice day.

Me too!
TL-MR6400EU Ver 3.0
Firmware: 1.6.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 181022 Rel.40644n
Using 3G only
The modem regularly disconnects from the internet. Currently I use a Sonoff smart switch to turn the modem off and on again a few times a day which gets it working again. I also have the Reboot Schedule set to reboot once a day but that rather seems to cause the problem and does not appear to help with reconnecting to the internet. Powering off and on seems to be the only thing that works, however, in my case, the modem is 450kms away and I need it to be working 24/7 for monitoring purposes.
I would really appreciate the beta firmware if possible. Thanks

Hi Kevin,
Could you also please provide me with the beta firmware, I seem to be having the same problem that JimDaniels and MikeMynis were describing.
My router disconnects about 5 times per day, all the LEDs on the device are lit, but the network map shows no internet. When I reboot the device it connects immediately without any problem.
The version information is:
Firmware Version: 1.10.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 190521 Rel.38696n
Hardware Version: TL-MR6400 v4 00000001
There is no country printed on bottom of the router next to the version number, but the device was bought in South Africa.
My phone uses the same ISP and I don't have the same issues with internet disappearing.

Hi guys,
I purchased a TL-MR6400 route a few days ago and started experiencing the connection drop out issue pretty quickly.
I've tried the suggestion of creating a new profile but this hasn't helped.
I get a connection for about 15-20 mins until it drops out. Rebooting the modem re-establishes the connection.
I'd like to try a newer version of firmware that could resolve this issue.
