Model: Archer VR600
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: Archer VR600(AU)_V2_Beta

Hi Marcia,

My device was running fine on Archer VR600(AU)_V2_Beta firmware and was happily using the wireless schedule but after updating to firmware version Archer VR600(AU)_V2_190123 the wireless schedule is no longer available in the same way.

Previously I could manage wireless schedules for both 2g and 5g networks separately but after the firmware upgrade this is no longer possible.

I cannot find any option for tftp recovery so you will need to provide me with a custom downgrade file or else I will be seeking an RMA return of this device as it no longer functions as required.

Regards,

@Brent0n

Below is the instruction to upgrade the firmware of the Archer VR600.

https://www.tp-link.com/au/support/faq/1756/

The steps to downgrade are the same, you can have a reference.

Best regards.

Marcia this is Brenton we have spoken before.

I am aware how to perform the firmware downgrade so please don't waste more time sending me guides.

The firmware upgrade fails with error 4503

This error occurs on all firmware downgrades.

Please provide custom downgrade file with new header or give me instructions on how to perform tftp firmware recovery.

Regards,

@Brent0n

Thanks for your reply.

I confirmed with our engineers, the latest firmware fixed some important bugs which limits you customers to downgrade considering the security.

While the reason you want to flash back to the beta is that the official firmware does not have wireless schedule feature anymore, but it should support it.

Please check under Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Schedule page.

If the wifi schedule feature does not exist, please show us a picture.

Good day.

Showing old wireless schedule which allows for seperate 2g and 5g wireless radio isolation.

New wireless schedule has only wifi on/off and no distinction between 2g or 5g radios.

This feature is essential for home users so I can't believe you removed it.

Please provide the last beta firmware with a fixed header for uploading to modem urgently or please replace my device as it is now useless to me.

@Brent0n

Hello, sorry to respond late.

I confirmed with our engineer again, the current latest firmware cannot be downgraded due to the security matter.

As we discussed before, it supports wifi schedule, but applying to the whole wireless network; you can use it as a workaround; or you can turn on/off the wifi feature at certain time manually.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused here, wish your kindly understanding.

Have a good day.

Marcia this is not an acceptable solution.

I purchased this product based on the wifi schedule capabilities and also recommended the device to a number of friends who have also purchased it purely for this purpose.

Please advise precisely what security matter you refer to as there was no mention of security fixes in the VR600(AU)_V2_190123 firmware notes (see screenshot) or was there any warning about downgrade

Please provide the previous beta firmware with a modified header for installing back onto my device.

If not a modified firmware then I request instructions on how to perform TFTP recovery mode.

This device no longer performs as advertised.

Regards,
