@Pat1185  This is a software issue only, no replacement will ever fix it.

@VCL  @Pat1185

Hello, apologies for all the frustration caused by my previous reply.

Please try to update to the below beta firmware on your Deco M4 to give it a go:

https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202005/20200529/Deco M4_1.1.8_Beta.zip

Note: Download and unzip the file, there is a guide in it.

May this help.

Due to the covid-19 and that I am working from home I cannot risk updating the deco's with a beta release without knowing what are the news (not the first time that a newer release brings more issues than fixes). @TP-Link_Deco, do you have somehow a "what's changed" list? Was the beta tested with any mediatek devices (these seem to be the usual suspects on these "connected without network" issues) and proven to wotk? Maybe somebody with issues but without teleworking can install it first at test.

@VCL

Hello, sorry about that.

This beta firmware was made to solve the disconnect issue between some special 2.4G wireless clients and the M4, which has been tested by our R&D developers.

But if you work from home and don't want to test it, that is OK and we will ask our developer to merge this patch in the official version later.

Thanks for your patience.

@TP-Link_Deco

Thanks.. I had updated the firmware last Saturday.. so far use it until now , the disconnect is still acceptable... Mean currently is only disconnect 2 to 3 times a day per device.. before update the firmware it disconnected from internet minimum 10 times a day per device.

Will continue monitor it.

@TP-Link_Deco Upgraded today, no changes so far. I still experience a stable connectivity when my two APs are connected through Wi-Fi but a very instable one when connected through Ethernet (~61% packet loss, with a drop every 3 or 4 packets). I know my wired connectivity is good since I use it 8-9 hours a day with my work computer with no issue at all.

@TP-Link_Deco Upgraded today to the 1.1.8_beta, and did my usual test: half a dozen connected devices (all work fine), all doing their normal stuff and, with the nokia 2.2 at around 3m from the main deco router, start the Youtube app and play a long (1h+) video and see how far it plays. While that, in my laptop, once in a while do ping tests to the nokia 2.2 to see if it is still responding and also check the ping response time. I notice better ping times for sure (no more 1s, now most are under 100ms), and the video, at the moment I write this, is playing for 35minutes (with a few minutes of cache constantly) and pingable!? Let's see if after a few more days if this keeps going on (and I have another nokia 2.2 to test) but it definitely looks way better than ever!

Update: second nokia 2.2, streaming TV, no stop, so far so good. In the Deco app I see now the devices streaming (youtube or iptv) showing up with a small rocket and the word "Accelerating..." instead of the usual download/upload speed [any clue of what it means now?] and I think I also see a uPnP new option now [that I disabled] ?

@TP-Link_Deco

Hello,

Do you know when official firmware release for M4R hardware V2 will be published ?

I have V2 hardware and the firmware published here is for hardware V1.

Regards,

Miguel.

@Quent1

Hi, sorry about that.

May I know the model number of your switch? What if you connect the second Deco to the main Deco directly with cable, will there be any disconnection?

Thanks.
