This is a general question. I know Deco units can be combined and that "the best" model should act as the main router. I have 2 M4 units now. What happens if I add a 6E or 7 router as a main router or access point? Obviously it will work, but will I get 6E/7 wifi networking coming out of that router, or will it downgrade and use the same technology as the other two M4 nodes?

Hi, Welcome to the community.

In a mixed Deco Mesh network, the WiFi 6E/7 compatible clients will still enjoy the WiFi 6E/7 high speed when connecting to WiFi 6E/7 Deco.

The main drawback might be some advanced features currently only available on some specific models, could no longer be seen on the Deco APP, such as WPA3 on Wi-Fi 6/6E/7 Deco.

Follow up question: Do you know if the same applies if the WIFI 7 is in Access point mode? And doy ou know if TP-link will sell models with 2.4GHz as well as Wifi 7? The reason I am asking htese questions, is that I have old Sonos systems connected to it, and the only way to connect it is to use my Deco M4 as a access point with a router in front of it.
