I am another one who is waiting for the VR2800 to get OneMesh support.

I agree with others... it is crazy to not make this available on the flagship xDSL product. Surely a simple firmware update.

If this happens soon, I will stick with my VR2800 and get some of TP-Link's mesh products, as the most sensible solution for my needs. If not, then I'm jumping ship to another brand which can offer a better xDSL modem with compatible mesh system. I like to think that TP-Link would prefer to keep us as customers by letting us add to our existing TP-Link systems.

Hi @TheSpartan, thanks for your post as I've been looking into whether to stick with the VR2800 or to go for the VR2100. What are the key distinctions between the two?

From what I've been able to discern. The VR2100 supports a higher broadband speed with Super VDSL  (VDSL2 Profile 35b) whereas the VR2800 only supports the standard VDSL. But the VR2800  has 2167Mbps on 5GHz and 600Mbps on 2.4GHz whereas the VR2100 has 1733 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Which means the VR2800 has superior Wi-Fi capability? Where I am, we can only get around 40Mbps at the moment, so we won't benefit from the Super VDSL but it would add future proofing. Plus I'm interested in using a mesh system as it's a three floor house.

I have used the comparison function here but can't see any other difference besides the above. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

@Mach2Infinity An important difference is the chipset. The VR2800 uses a Broadcom chipset, which I'm told maintains DSL sync better under trying conditions. Whereas the VR2100 uses MediaTek, which apparently has more trouble with longer lines. Have a look at this forum thread: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/3xk17my9

But then, those of us with the VR2800 are really not impressed that this top-of-the-line modem/router has not had a feature update to work with other TP-Link mesh systems.

I would also like to request that TP-Link add OneMesh support for the Archer VR2800/AC2800.

It does not engender brand loyalty if the premier modem router model doesn't support the latest protocols, especially when lower-grade models do have this support.

@Dan.M I believe other Brands care more about existing owners. I was a fan of TP_Link and have their devices throughout the house.As and when I replace then, I will be going elsewhere.

As you can see on this thread and others, there is never a useful comment form the Company. A shame

As it is stated in other threads regarding the "mesh-problem" there will no mesh support on the vr2800!

So please don't choose tp-link products next time you need a router or wifi product. This is the only way to let the people at tp-link know, that they treat their customers wrong!

Ugh. I paid extra for the VR2800 _exactly_ because I figured it would have a longer support life as a flagship product. I don't even use the extra speed. I would have been better off paying less for the vr2100, which is just perverse. I know it's a different chipset, but I shouldn't need to think about that as a customer.

I appreciate that firmware is hard, but come on. 2 years to introduce what looks like a flagship feature into a flagship modem.
