Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: Rel. 54285

Deco M9 Plus and Neato Botvac D7 issues cannot connect when fast roaming is enabled. Have reset device to factory and tried to connect which isnt possible.

As soon as fast roaming is switched off, botvac connects and functions as expected. Switching backon post setup of BotVac causes it to loose connection.

Any suggestions other than replace wifi with Orbi appreciated.

@AndrewB

What about other devices? Do they have the same issue? Does Neato Botvac D7 support fast roaming?

And when did you buy these devices? Do you have this issue since the very first beginning?

With fast roaming enabled, is there any error message indicates that you cannot join the Deco's network?

Meanwhile, you can install the beta firmware and then disable mesh technology for the D7 and then re-enable fast roaming and verify whether it works.

Note: The new firmware is on its way, once official one released, you can install it again.

Good day.

@Kevin_Z , I tried your idea of disabling fast roaming, turning off mesh for neato and re-enabling fast roaming again.

After disabling fast roaming and turning off mesh for neato, it connected just fine.

The moment fast roaming was enabled, it went offline.

It did not solve the issue.

Having the same issue. But the problem is probably more on Neato's side. Even the newer models only have 2ghz wifi, are picky with characters in ssid'd and so on:)

@Nandy

hi

i had to disable the fast roaming, on the deco wifi settings app, to allow neato to connect to the network, and after that disabled the mesh network for the device himself and reenable the fast roaming.

@Mike_pm Actually doesn't work for me either. I've disabled the mesh in order to have this working.

@Nandy

Hi, Was your current issue was the Neato Botvac D7 failed to connect to the wireless network of Deco M9 plus, or the wireless connection is quite unstable?

And turning off the fast roaming and Mesh for the Neato Botvac D7 did not make any difference, right?

Have you tried to create a guest network for 2.4ghz only and connect the robot cleaner again to have a look?

Thank you very much.

For me, turning off the fast-roaming worked. I didnot turn off mesh. However, I have gotten rid of the botvac and it is not a concern anymore. Turning on the fast-roaming only impacted the botvac and no other devices(Ring cameras, alexa, iphones/macs/ipads all work happily)
