Model: Adapter
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: Could not find

I tried all suggestions in the manual-in vain. The adapter is displayed in the device manager, nevertheless not blinking. Win7/8: No problems!

Thanks a lot for your advice!

@Carl Archer T4U(EU) Ver 2.0 S/N 216B412001630, P/N 0152502158.

PS: I am planning to use it with Linux-last time I tried it in vain. Got the driver from elsewhere and it was difficult to install. Is the driver offered on the TP-link site up to date?

@Cromox

I'm going to transfer this post to our global forum.  They will be better equiped to provide better support as drivers are region based.  For furture their dirrect url is community.tp-link.com/en.

Hello, for the driver of linux OS, as you know, the linux OS is an open syste, the official driver listed on the official website is limited.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/archer-t4u/v2/#Driver

You can verify whether it covers the kernel version of your laptop, if not, you can search  the driver online with the chipset of the adapter.

Back to your case with Windows 10, the Archer T4U supports Windows 10, and you can see it under device manager; please install the driver for it first and the double click the adapter and tell us the device status.

Besides, what is the OS version of the Windows 10 laptop?

Good day.

@Kevin_Z Thanks to all for your replies. Meanwhile I found the solution: In "Preferences" there are 2 software switches, "Wlan" and "Wlan2" that were not "On"! Interestingly, if "Wlan" is off, "Wlan2" is off, too. Win7/8 do not have this speciality.

Back to Linux: The TPLink driver does not cover the kernel. How is the mentioned search done? Are they safe and why did someone write them for free, assuming a driver is not a funny task, written on a rainy sunday afternoon? I found around 2 years ago drivers via request in a forum, but in hindsight it was risky.

Hello, thanks for your reply, first, it is glad to hear that you figured it out. Now you can enjoy the adapter with the Windows 10 PC.

For the driver for Linux, you can go to the official website of the chipset manufacturer or Github to search the suitable driver.

The chipset of Archer T4U is Realtek RTL8812AU.

Best regards.
