Is there a way of getting the power line utility working on this Windows version? Everything installed fine but I'm getting a "Library not registered" error on launch. Tried both running compatibility mode and installing modern NpCap using the Winpcap compatibility mode.

@Sushi81

What is the model number of your powerline adapters?

And what is the operating system of your computer?

Please send us a picture of the error message as well.

@Kevin_Z

Hi Kevin, thanks for getting back to me.

1) Currently I'm running 4 TL-PA8030P adapters but want to add some TL-PA9020P for key points in the house.

2) OS is Windows Server 2019 Standard, Version 10.0.17763.832 ... I have some Windows 10 clients too but would prefer running it on the server in case I want to diagnose remotely

3) Pictures of error and "empty" application afterwards are attached

Regards,

Markus

@Sushi81

Hello, the tpPLC utility does not support Windows Server 2019 yet. So I'm afraid that it is the compatibility issue.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/tl-pa8030p-kit/#Utility

We will try to do a test at our lab, while for now, it is suggested to use the Windows 10 to install the utility and manage these powerline adapters.

Good day.

Hi Kevin,

Too bad but the "yet" at the end gives me a bit of hope. How about the latest versions of Windows 10 (1903 or 1909), will any of these work?

Thx,

Markus

@Sushi81

Not sure, we are trying to run a test at our lab. Any updates, we will let you know.

And the tpPLC utility supports Windows 10, you can use Windows 10 PC to install it and manage the powerline adapters.

Hi Kevin,

Yes I can confirm that the tool worked fine on both Windows 10, 1903 and the new 1908. Also got the new adapters installed over the weekend and everything is working fine - they did seem to drop connections a bit in the beginning. Is there like a learning phase where they figure out how to best communicate between each other?

@Sushi81

For the unstable connection, you can refer to the instruction below to do some troubleshooting. Like changing different sockets, plug them into the same room and so on.

Any further problem, be free to let us know.

@Kevin_Z  install this before you install tpPlc

 run in powershell:

dism /online /add-package /packagepath:”C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\Adobe-Flash-For-Windows-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.17763.1.mum”
