I get slow internet throughput on a new PA9020P bought this month. The line rates are high - which I can see from the TPLink utility for PA9020P; same room 1300-1400, next door room 1000mbps, furthest room is 500mbps; BUT in ALL instances the internet throughput never exceeds 130-140mbps; it is maxed out at this speed; I have a 500Mbps rate internet connection - I get the full speed throughput (ookla speedtest) at the router; but when the client devices access the internet via the PA9020P remote end it is limited to ~130mbps in any room, close or far, at any line rate. 

I have seen several complaints posted about PA9020P with this problem and a support reponse highlighting a troubleshoot path 'case 1' and 'case 2' from TP-Link.

I am on 'case 2' what should I do - it just says contact TP-Link support.

 

To other potential buyers of PA9020P, it appears this is a very expensive mistake; yes the line rates are high best rate seenn 1300mbps (never can I get 2000mbps) but internet data throughput is rate limited - very slow performance! seems customers only realise when they move to fibre to home internet speeds above 300mbps.

 

There is a QoS setting on PA9020P but that does not help.

 

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your requesting, we will do some troubleshooting first to narrow down the issue and try to fix it. 

 

You mentioned that you are case 2, so the speed from the adapter when they are in the same room is slow either. May I know what is the speed you can get from them when they are in the same room? 

 

Besides, please click here to check the wired negotiation speed of your computer.  And please ensure that the firmware version of the adapter is up to date. 

 

Do you have this slow speed issue since you bought it? 

 

When and where did you buy it also?

Hello

 

Yes the following results are seen

 

Same room (as internet router) remote PA9020P in adjacent socket the remote PA9020P unit shows a link rate (line rate) ~ 1200mbps - 1300mbps; BUT internet throughput is limited to 120-130mbps

 

next room same floor remote PA9020Punit shows link rate ~900mbps - 1000mbps; BUT internet throughput is limited to 120-130mbps

 

upstairs room living room remote PA9020P unit link rate ~530-600mbps; BUT internet through put is limited to ~100mbps-120mbps

 

upstairs furthest room remote PA9020P unit link rate ~400mbps  - 500mbps; BUT internet throughput limited to  ~90mbps-100mbps.

 

Yes this was problem from day one of purchase and using straight out of box.

 

the version on PA9020P is v3.1

 

Firmware is latest as I can see; Unit purchased brand new from major high street retailer Currys PCWorld during black friday sale just few weeks ago.

 

What is your solution?

Besides, you can enable lower PLC-to-VDSL interference Mode and disable power saving mode to give it a go.

enable lower PLC-to-VDSL interference makes my PA9020P work even slower! It is not a fix. Suspect the following may be issues 1. High speed internet services (>300Mbps) using IPv6; The PA9020P kit is not optimised for IPv6? Perhaps the firmware is set for IPv4 for legacy ISP provisions (ADSL, VDSL) - and not fibre services at 500Mbps, 1Gbps etc. 2. PA9020P is employing a QoS system or packet inspection technique that is TCP overhead heavy. It is slowing TCP throughput. Get your engineers to check TCP vs UDP throughput and benchmark. 3. Firmware coding error, coding inefficiency in 'bridge' mode. thank you. URGENT resolution is requested.
