Update:

Upgrade was successfull. With the new firmware wireless and wired components are detected. Is this the right behaviour?
With the old 1.4 firmware only the wireless components were detected.
My deco m5 works in ap mode. Two decos were connected with my zyxel switch, two more are wireless connected.

Hi Rioja
you have to update the firmware with the web gui of the deco.
Login to the main deco, go to Advanced, then System. Just click on firmware upgrade

Hi,
I just dowloaded the 1.4.2 beta firmware and tried to upload it from web UI.
after clicking on Upgrade button, I can see the file transfer at bottom left of browser and finally a chip that says operation succeeded
that said, nothing updates and I can see a 500 error in the browser dev tools on following url
http://192.168.68.1/cgi-bin/luci/;stok=82d397e2d02335d63ca5485e80f09608/admin/cloud?form=firmware_status
Any idea what's wrong ?
BTW, I have 3 Deco M5 units, hardware V1.0 (EU)
I installed them from app and was only able to update primary one, so right now I have:
main deco : 1.4.0 Build 20191223 Rel. 38921
first slave & secondary slave : 1.1.5 Build 20170820 Rel. 62483
I've never been able to update from mobile app again (says unable to check for updates) nor the web UI online option as in that case even if UI shows all units with correct versions when I click on "check for upgrades", I get a never ending spinner and again in the console I see the following javascript error:
frame.js:1 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'toString' of null
at Object.o.su.escapeHtml (frame.js:1)
at l.su.widgets.<computed>.renderer (eval at <anonymous> (jquery.min.js:3), <anonymous>:1:1299)
at l.su.widgets.<computed>.setValue (frame.js:1)
at o._syncDataValue (frame.js:1)
at o.sync (frame.js:1)
at o.e.su.Observable.t.fireEvent (frame.js:1)
at o.syncView (frame.js:1)
at o.bindViewObj (frame.js:1)
at o.syncSubViewBinds (frame.js:1)
at o.bindViewObj (frame.js:1)
Anyone can help?
thanks a lot in advance

So I am hesitate to install Beta Firmware. Is there any timeframe of when an official release will be? Also when updating this to the 1.4.2 version (should I choose to do so); will this update ALL M5 Deco's & not just the main unit?

@gatito I experienced this the first time as well (there was a new firmware version but the app never showed it so I wanted to install manually).
what worked for me was connecting my laptop wired to one Deco (it wasn't the main Deco but to be safe I recommend you do that) and removing the cable that's between your modem/router and your Deco (so basically disconnect it from the internet).
TP-link had a guide somewhere (can't find it that quick) that actually suggested to try to upgrade the Deco's while disconnected from the internet. That seemed to work for me.
I hope it works!
