Hi,

I have a strange issue.

i used to connect my desktop PC via 2 TP AV600's to my Router (downstairs).

it all worked OK.

Recently I noticed that my desktop internet was slow, so I did a speed test. Download speeds averaged 8 Mbps.

on WiFi, I was getting 20 Mbps (via a netgear dongle)

I reset the AV600's - no change.

i connected my laptop via Ethernet cable to the router. Download Speeds Averaged 30 Mbps.

i put one of the AV600 units in the same socket pair as the other one ... 30 Mbps

i then put the second AV600 in another downstairs socket... 30 Mbps

i then went upstairs and plugged the AV600 in... back to 8Mbps.

All upstairs sockets ... 8 Mbps

i thought that these units only had to be in the same house, not on the same Ring main.

Nothing has been changed in my house (other than I've had Sky Q and a new router) , but that hasn't affected my house electrics.

(Thinking back, the connection has been slow since before I had Sky Q)

Any ideas ?

@Davec1510

Hello, what is the model number of the AV600? You can find it on the back panel, which starts with TL-WPA/PAXXX.

What is the light status of them when they are plugged into upstairs?

With them plugged upstairs, please check the powerline link rate with the tpPLC utility; also, please check the link rate when they are in downstairs.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/tl-wpa4220kit/#Utility

Try to change another wall socket to plug it upstairs and ensure that the powerline light is yellor or green; then please test the speed.

You can follow the below instruction to narrow down the issue and tell us some details:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2231/

Besides, please ensure that the firmware of this adapter is up to date.

Any updates, just let us know.

Good day.

@Kevin_Z

Hi,

The Model of all my AV600 units (of which I have 4) is TL-PA4010.

I also have an older AV200 3 port Adapter, modelTL-PA2030(UK).

I will work through the tests later today and post my findings

Thanks

"Connect One End Device to the router directly, bu pass the TP link and test speed"

DOWN 34.5 Mbps//UP 7.61 Mbps

"Connect Same End device to TP Link Powerline adapter and ttest Speed"

DOWN 33.9 Mbps//UP 7.07 Mbps

Connect as above to a different socket on the same floor, different room

DOWN 30.8 Mbps//UP 7.05 Mbps

Wireless Speeds
