Model: Archer VR900
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 0.2.0 0.9.1 v0069.0 Build 170303 Rel.59897n

Hi, Ive got 33 devices connected to my Archer VR900, i cant connect any more though! Even devices which have previously been connected now cant connect. If i disconnect one of the devices i can connect a different one but i then cant connect the original one. Im guessing its an IP allocation issue but i dont even know where to start in the settings! Can anyone please help? Thanks

Do they connect to the Archer VR900 by wired cable or wireless? And do they all connect to the same wifi band?

May I know how many devices connect to the 2.4GHz and 5GHz respectively?

You can check the DHCP IP range on the web UI. Log into web UI first and go to the advanced-network-LAN settings page to check the IP address pool.

Good day.

Thanks for the reply.

I have 3 wired connections, about 6 or so on 5ghz and the rest on 2.4ghz (the only band the devices support) the IP range is set to 192.168.1.120 - 192.168.1.250 (I've got some reserved ips between 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.119) I'm wondering if it has some sort of built in limit. If it does would that mean adding another router to the VR900?

Thanks for your reply. That is a little weird. Do they fail to connect to any wifi networks once there are 32 devices that have been connected to the Archer VR900?

Cause most of them connected to the 2.4GHz, you can try to connect your device to the 5GHz.

Besides, have you ever tried to reset the router and reconfigure it to give it a shot?

@Kevin_Z

I haven't actually tried to connect them to another device so I'll try that when I get home.

Unfortunately as nearly all the devices connected to 2.4ghz network are smart home devices they don't support 5ghz so I can't connect anything else to the 5ghz band. I've got all the devices that support 5ghz connected to that band already.

I haven't yet as I've got some ports forwarded and static ips set up so didn't want to loose all my settings for those. Maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and try it :(

I've actually already bought a TPLINK AC1750 as I read adding another router as an access point would help distribute the load, would this help at all?

Thanks for your help

Thanks for your valued reply.

You can backup the configuration file before you hard reset the Archer VR900. And then you can try to connect these devices to the VR900 and verify whether they can connect to it at once.

Note: Do not restore the configuration file yet; you can test whether it works well by default.

Yes, you can use the AC1750 as the access point mode and connect the smart home devices to its 2.4GHz.

So I set up my new AC1750 as an AP. I've moved some stuff to the AP and connected stuff that I couldn't before because of the client limit and all seems to be working well now! Thanks again for all your help!
