Hi, 

it has nothing more written on the device than this. TL-PA2010

No version or anything except the MAC & PWD. 

I expected that the v1 from the download will be the right one for this, becaue no other device version is listed there. 

Now it seems not. 

The device does not light up anymore. 

Regradles if I press the button short or long. 

The second device behave ok. 

No third in place. Hence need to throw both to trash!

thanks for that tipp.

I bought them used from private on fleamarket.

Hence no way to get replacement.

But the other thing is, that the found Recovery Tool "PLC Recover" does recognize it as reflashable.

2nd BUT, without the correct firmware files I have no chance.
Is there anybody who is able to provide me the NVM & PIB for this version " 200B-1.0.0.352-06-20120608-FINAL" ??

This is exact the running version on the other plug.

I am not able to find it.

Please read carefully. That's exactly what caused the OP's (and my same) problem.  The US site (and link you just provided) for the TL-PA2010 erroneously offers only the EU firmware, which I'm sure refreshes EU hardware quite nicely.  But the update utility recognizes EU firmware as NOT allowed for US hardware.  So where can we get the correct US firmware due to the apparent error with the US support link providing only the EU firmware WHICH WILL NOT LOAD ON US HARDWARE using the recommended utility?  I'll mention as an aside that a friend recommended trying the TL-PA4010 firmware instead, which is available in US version (particularly for the 2016 MAC -> Password security update), but it seems to me that there must be US firmware SOMEWHERE for the TL-PA2010.  If not, is there some reasonable way to copy at least the original firmware from a working PA2010 to a flaky one?

Kevin, I tried exact that firmware you provided but it is the V1 and not the version WITHOUT any Hardware revision and this did the "brick trick"!

Please look at the image I attached, that is what I have here, no V1 or V2 or V3 or.......

I understand that you want to sell new things but for that please provide a Firmware folder where others can find the Hardware revision without V1 and a textfile with the warning that there is no firmware avaiable and any try will damage the hardware from 2012!

If you really want to do a good thing, try to recover the Firmware from a working device I showed in the picture with the description "FW 200B-1.0.0.352-06-20120608-FINAL"

And provide a solution to reflash the PA2010.
o2bad455, have you an idea what version your firmware is or do you not have a second running plug?

If it is totally different there hopefully is someone reading this thread with the knowledge to read FW and create files from it.
For me it seems that the TP Link Engineers are not able to and Kevin is the poor guy who sits between them and us.

Hi Marc,

I believe both of the PA2010s I had here (now in the hands of a friend who might solve it for us if she gets motivated) used to report the same 2012 firmware as yours, although at least one was reporting jibberish most recently. The other might well have the original firmware, which I'm not yet sure how to properly or fully extract. That said, I would NOT blindly trust the firmware pulled from the second since the issues with the first might well have stemmed from a successful network hack and attempted attacker reflash. If I assume that possibility, what are the chances that they didn't get to the second versus that they got to it but successfully flashed malware leaving no one the wiser? I simply can't believe TP Link doesn't have any working reflash firmware for us, whether original or updated... That said, I suppose if several of us pulled the same firmware image and at least the hashes all matched, we might safely assume it was original (either that or find some brand new old stock to pull it from). But honestly, I think if I try anything else (other than find a trusted source image for reflash), it would be to flash the 2016 PA4010 firmware (or a very slightly modifed version to get past the version check) to one of these, knowing full well it probably won't work but that, if it did, it would solve two problems at once (the flaky units plus the security vulnerability).

EDIT: She thinks BOTH of the PA2010s (AV200) we had were hacked and doesn't recommend using them again for anything or wasting further time on them (unless TP Link miraculously announces a 2016 or later firmware). She said to replace them with any PA4010 (AV600; e.g., a pair go for $25 on ebay), and simply flash those to a 2016 firmware if they don't already have it.  I just ordered a pair of PA8010s (AV1200) to mix with my existing PA4010s (supposed to work per TP lInk FAQ).

with that knowledge it is real that I can throw them to trash.
My mistake to trust in an unprofessional brand.

Maybe on next fleamarket someone will pick them up.
