USB port on Deco M9 Plus is useless

I see in other posts where the USB port is 'reserved for future use' but that are plans to make it more fuctional such as attaching USB devices directly to my M9Plus. Are there ANY updates available as to when this might happen?? My old Samsung Xpress c430W doesn't 'see' my network so I can't use it as a network printer, I need to direct connect to a single PC.I can't even attach this printer using WPS.
I really purchased this M9Plus for the USB feature and with it being useless, my opinion of the TP-Link Deco M9Plus is that's I should have stayed with my old brand and just upgrade that one to a Mesh router.

Currently, it is only a USB charging port and Output is about 5V/0.5A.

@STL_Joe Whole M9 Plus is useless.
They changed the promises about the USB and since 2 years they are promising firmware update.
1.5.1 Build 20210126 Rel. 59387 - 1st year without updates :)

Same, very disappointing not to add a network drive on the deco.
Of course it is mentioned nowhere on the product description and you only realize that it is useless when you have bought it

Sometime I think that the lack of transparency or lack of informing us of this deficiency of function should warrant a Class Action Suit. Any lawyers out there?

having same issue with my X73-DSL newly released:
its shocking the sell this without fully testing at these prices (over x3 time the normal price)!!!
Have almost given up waiting for a firmware update to sort this krap out
This looks very bad on TP-Link would thing twice before buying again

@STL_Joe Oh, my... Just found this out, searching for "external drive server on M9 Plus".
What a cr**p! If you want anything better than the very minimum, quit TP Link, really. Can't believe this.
They could have removed this useless port...

When will there be an update for this router? It's been over a year. We DEMAND! that USB support and faster speed for GIGABIT internet users. I am capped at 300mbps. I want to add an external hard drive!!!!!!!!!!!
