@mallipoo I have tried changing the bands just like the way you described. But, CA doesn't happen. Is it possible that the tower doesn't support 4G+?

@AP_Techie Pls try and see if you are getting any signal of band 40 alone. means, leave band b empty and band a with 40. If you have signals then you should have CA. else no.

@AP_Techie  there are still some towers where Airtel has not implemented CA yet. The LTE Category in this router doesn't support 2x2 MIMO. but you can achieve spatial diversity by mounting two LPDAs on horizontally . Or may be in different poles parallel to the ground. LPDAs never work better when they are not parallel to the ground when you are at certain distance to the mast. These LPDAs won't give you a better SINR  . I already tried these.  Mount these lpda horizontally and Keep enough space between them to achieve space diversity for a good gain. (This could increase your SINR). Or point at different towers, Avoid antennas to couple and give distance between them for achieving isolation. I doubt this router has Snapdragon X12. But I believe it is having a X7 which doesn't support downlink MIMO.

Hope it helps.

My LPDA antennas were delivered a few days ago. But I was out of station, so did not set them up yet. I'm trying to setup the antennas now. I'm looking for your expert advise on how to mount and measure the improvements. Hope you can give some guidance.

I'm located in a rural area and the nearest airtel tower is located <1Km with a clear line of sight from the terrace. Both jio and Airtel towers are located in the same area. On net monster and other apps, I've observed that Airtel signals come from 3 different towers. Two other towers are located in different directions, and they are 5-6 kms away. I've not observed 4g+ when connected to the nearest tower. Nearest tower is almost always connected on band-3(1800) and the average speeds from the terrace are 30 Mbps DL and 25 Mbps UL. This is my current setup.

I've setup the 12dbi LPDA antennas today. After connecting them to the router I've observed improvement in rsrp, but rsrq and SNR have gone down. I've gotten 10 mtr lmr400 cables ( thought I don't need 10 mtrs really) to connect the antennas to router.  My suspicion is the mounting of antennas is incorrect.  I haven't gotten the 90 degree perfectly, I'm going to retry this tomorrow.

My queries are about the antenna setup. Which portion of the antenna should face the tower? In my current setup, xyz area is facing the tower. Is this the right way to arrange the antenna.

Another question is, shall I mount the antennas on the same pole or two different poles? If I've to mount them on different poles, what should be the right way to setup each antenna?

Your guidance is highly appreciated. Thank you.

I've attached the signal strength values in the current setup.

Regards, Abhi

@mallipoo Hi, in my case I would be interested in having B1+B3. Each band alone is getting a signal but selecting both bands in the beta firmware does not lead to CA. When doing this, B3 is always selected alone. However CA works fine if I use B3+B20. By the way, the latest official firmware works just as well as the beta for me in terms of CA as it always selects B3+B20. I thought I could achieve higher speeds by using B1+B3 in the beta firmware but this combination is not supported for CA, although each one of these 2 bands get a proper signal when used alone.

@mallipoo I see the signal for Band40. but rsrp, and rsrq are much worse than the B3's. So, my guess is that the B40 signal is coming from a different faraway tower.

@Abhi093 I am going to try different poles today. In preparation for that, I've unscrewed the lower height antenna and verified the signal quality. Signal strength went to 100%(earlier 75% only) and SNR improved as well. So, I wonder whether we really need two antennas.

I'll post the results after mounting the LPDA antennas horizontally on two poles.

@AP_Techie

Pls check my earlier post . This device doesn't support MIMO in LTE Downlink. You can get space diversity and good gain from two antennas place at some distance to avoid coupling.

@AP_Techie But your speed will drop. In MIMO mode speed is better. In normal vertical mode, SNR improves, which does not give us benefit. End of day, we need speed...

@mallipoo I have tried seperate vertical positioning with a distance of 3 meters. Parameters improve. But you get good speed when you tilt LPDA's by 45deg. Keeping them tilted with a space of about 3-4 feet betters SNR and RSRQ.Having tried all methods, now I use them in 45 deg polarization only.
