Hi.

 

I have been trying to fix this symptom within my wireless extender. After several tests, I found out the RE450 locks up when clients are connected on the 2.4Ghz network. It becames unresponsive, none buttons works, need to unplugg from wall outlet.

Configurations/tests I did:

 

  • Fixed IP outside router's DHCP range
  • Disabled DHCP on extender
  • 2.4Ghz channel changed to 6 and 20Mhz

 

With clients only connected on 5Ghz, it works fine, no freeze/locks up. If any client connects on 2.4 network, in a few minutes the problem happens.

I disabled the 2.4Ghz extension to avoid automatic connections, but I still need this network as I have some devices that does not work with 5Ghz. For such devices, I am still connecting directly on the router, without any problems.

Extender has the latest firmware revision. Router is a Huawey EG8145v5.

 

Has anyone had this issue? Any advice on this?

Please help us check the following information for further analysis:

  1. How long have you had RE450 and when did the issue start?
  2. Did you manually turn off the DHCP server on RE450, or the DHCP server is auto(off)?
  3. Did you change the main router’s 2.4ghz channel and channel width to 6/20mhz?
  4. What did you mean the RE450 would be unresponsive, ping unreachable, or internet hung out?
  5. Did even the power button and LED button not work as well?

I'm having the exact same issue - unplug and plug back in and it works as advertised. 
 

Did you ever find a resolution?

Unfortunately I have not. I disabled 2.4Ghz on extender.

Thanks for replying. Here are my responses:

 

  1. Have it for 6 months and happens since installed.
  2. I mannually turned off.
  3. Yes, this is the configuration right now on router.
  4. Unresponsive, no ping and no internet.
  5. All buttons does not work when the issue occurs.
