Hi there,

 

Just making sure this will work. We want to install 3 LB130s in a light fixture to get all the benefits of colored / mood lighting.

 

But we also want to replace that fixture's current 3-way switches with HS210s so we have the option of replacing the LB130 with standard bulbs down the line.

 

I understand that this could be considered overkill and that when the HS210 switches are off, there would be no way to control the bulbs but...

 

Is there any technical reason why this wouldn't work? Or anything we'd need to pay attention to during installation?

Hello,

 

Do you mean you want to install the HS210KIT to control the LB130s? Certainly, this is not suggested, just as you mentioned it will be impossible to control the LB130 when the HS210 is off, and actually there is little necessity to have both smart switch and smart bulb in the same line since both can be controlled via the Kasa app.

Agree that this is overkill but just checking that there's no technical reason that would prevent this from working?

 

Part of the reason is that we're not going to give guests access to the Kasa app so they still need to be able to turn lights on/off, but we'd still like remote control of the circuit.
