Model: RE305
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.13 build 20200715 rel.38287

Hi,

I just got this extender/repeater (RE305) and I am having the problem that I connect to my router (AX1500) fine if I disable access control on the router.

Once I enable it and add the RE305's MACs for 5ghz and 2,4ghz to the whitelist the repeater does not connect, so I get no internet.

I have updated to the latest firmware both the extender and router. Whitelisting works for all my other devices, so it is only the RE305 which fails.

Please investigate and provide a fix as I would like to keep the access control for my router.

Br,

Artzox

@Artzox

Good day.

Sorry for the delay.

In Proxy Mode, Range Extender will replace each of its clients’ MAC address with a virtual MAC address generated automatically by Range Extender. Thus the router will take the virtual MAC address of the clients as their real MAC address.

So, please try to refer to this link to add the MAC address again:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2019/

In case it failed again, we would like to follow up your case via email and please help us check the following information:

  1. Can I have a picture of the MAC address on the product label at the back of RE305?
  2. Please also help me get a picture of the 4GHZ and 5GHZ MAC address on the web interface;

Thank you very much.

@Solla-topee

Thanks for the reply. I understand how I can filter the devices connected to the repeater via access control from the router, but this is not the issue I am having.

The problem for me is that if I apply access control to the router and add the MAC address printed on the repeater as well as the virtual MACs the repeater cannot connect to the router.

When I remove the access control for the router I see the repeater connecting (only 5ghz, as I have high speed turned on) but the MAC address for the repeater is not the expected virtual one and what is interesting is that the sequence of symbols and letters is like the ones of the virtual device MACs.

Currently I have the following MACs added - the real MAC for the repeater, the virtual ones and the virtual MACs for the devices connected to the repeater.

As soon as I switch Access control the repeater cannot connect to the router and as a result the devices connected to the repeater don't have interet.

Please provide an email address and I will send screenshots with the MAC addresses.

@Solla-topee

Can you please provide an email for me to share screenshots as this has still no resolution even though all MACs are whitelisted.

Do you need me to open a new thread to get a reply on this. The issue remains unsolved.
