Solution Weak secuirty issue on the IOS system
Background:
Some of you may have updated your Apple devices to the latest iOS 14 version and get a “Weak Security” warning message when connecting to the Deco network.
Why Deco network is displayed as “Weak Security”?
Deco by default secured your wireless network with a mixed WPA/WPA2-AES/TKIP security, and the previous firmware was not allowed to manually configure the security mode. While iOS14 and some new operating systems consider other than the latest WPA3 and WPA2 AES to have security issues.
Solution:
1. The latest firmware version has allowed users to manually configure the security mode; Please make sure that you have updated Deco to the latest firmware;
2. Please ensure you are running the latest Deco app on your phone;
Then Launch your Deco app->MORE->Wi-Fi, tap the password box and you will be able to change the Security Type:
Note:
1. Sometimes Deco APP might fail to get the latest firmware upgrade notification, please also check on the local official website to ensure you have the latest firmware;
2. After changing the security mode to WPA2-PSK (AES) only, If some of your old IoT devices cannot connect to the Deco network anymore, you could change the security back to the mixed WPA2-PSK (AES)+WPA-PSK (TKIP) as your devices might not support the newer AES version.

Hi,
I originally updated my Deco M5 to the 1.5.0 beta firmware when it was first published before you changed the link to 1.4.9 to avoid the low security messages on Apple devices.
I have noticed that on the antivirus page it has not updated since the 14th September which seems a long time before releasing a security update.
Manually updating it comes back and says it is up-to-date and disabling the option completely, rebooting Deco and turning on again makes no difference.
Be interesting to know if other 1.5.0 users on the M5 have a similar issue.
Thanks
Michael

Hello, thanks for reporting. What if you click on Tap to refresh? Will it try to refresh? How about you send us a short video showing this issue that it won't refresh?

Why Deco network is displayed as “Weak Security”?
Deco by default secures your wireless network with a mixed WPA/WPA2-AES/TKIP security, and it is not manually configurable. We currently only have the Deco X20 and Deco X60 support WPA3 security, and we will add more:

What to do?
We will soon release official firmware for the Deco devices to allow you to change the wireless security type in weeks, please keep an eye on your Deco app for the updates.
If you do worry about your network security and want to get rid of the “weak security” warning immediately, we have prepared the beta firmware for the Deco devices, you may update your Deco devices to this beta firmware as per your Deco models. We updated the download link in case there are models in your Deco network that don't support this feature yet to change the wireless security:

Hi,
It attempts to refresh but stops after a second.
Prior to Deco M5 1.5.0 it was updating and took around 30 seconds.
See attached screen recording.
Thanks,
Michael

Hi,
I have a network composed of 3 X60 (V1.0) and 2 M4R (V2.0). The M4R updated themselves, but when I tried to update the X60, it seems to have a similar firmware as the beta. I am on Build 20200709 Rel. 46606. The beta is: x60-SP1-up-ver1-2-5-P1[20200922-rel54037]_2020-09-22_15.07.18
So, is the beta identical? Because if I try to update manually, it gives a Operation Failed message.
Thank you!

Hi, thanks for asking.
Currently we only have the beta firmware for the X60 while there is an official firmware for Deco M4R, that's why you can update the Deco M4R via the APP update. If you want to upgrade the Deco X60 to the latest beta, you will need to update it manually, as there is no update on the APP. You can refer to the download link in my post and there is a guide in it.
BTW, you can also wait for days, we will soon release the official version for the Deco X60 as well. Thanks.
