Solution Weak secuirty issue on the IOS system
Background:
Some of you may have updated your Apple devices to the latest iOS 14 version and get a “Weak Security” warning message when connecting to the Deco network.
Why Deco network is displayed as “Weak Security”?
Deco by default secured your wireless network with a mixed WPA/WPA2-AES/TKIP security, and the previous firmware was not allowed to manually configure the security mode. While iOS14 and some new operating systems consider other than the latest WPA3 and WPA2 AES to have security issues.
Solution:
1. The latest firmware version has allowed users to manually configure the security mode; Please make sure that you have updated Deco to the latest firmware;
2. Please ensure you are running the latest Deco app on your phone;
Then Launch your Deco app->MORE->Wi-Fi, tap the password box and you will be able to change the Security Type:
Note:
1. Sometimes Deco APP might fail to get the latest firmware upgrade notification, please also check on the local official website to ensure you have the latest firmware;
2. After changing the security mode to WPA2-PSK (AES) only, If some of your old IoT devices cannot connect to the Deco network anymore, you could change the security back to the mixed WPA2-PSK (AES)+WPA-PSK (TKIP) as your devices might not support the newer AES version.

My iPhone says "Weak Security" but my Deco M9 Plus is up to date with Firmware 1.2.11 Build 20190926 Rel. 55727.
It doesn't have a new Firmware to download to be able to change the Security.
I'm from Switzerland/Europe
Any help?
Thanks in advance

Hi, thanks for asking, while this has been mentioned multiple times already on this community that the old 1.2.x version can only be upgraded via the Upgrade Utility and it cannot be done via web or Deco app.
For more details, please refer to this thread, thanks:

I hope this helps, have a nice day.

@TP-Link_Deco Hi all!
I've just received the iOS WiFi Security Weak problem. I have tried to upgrade my Deco M4R throug web and app and it says it's up to date.
Firmware version: 1.1.0 Build 20190620 Rel. 45372
How I could enforce the upgrade? Could I do it manually?
Thank you very much! Best Regards.

This firmware seems to have fixed my constant issues with my nest cameras and new google chromecast from dropping off the wifi several times a day.
Thanks I guess, even if it took sooooo long.

Hi, what kind of privacy warning? Can I have a screenshot of it? Is it on an iOS14 also?
