MR600 - Address reservation doesn't work properly
MR600 - Address reservation doesn't work properly
Basically, address reservation for specific MAC addresses doesn't seem to work properly (it does whatever the hell it wants at any given time).
I have around 24 devices with reserved IP addresses. For a few of them, seemingly random, the router offers an IP from the DHCP pool instead of the one I reserved.
For example, you can clearly see the reserved address for this MAC:
And this is what happens when the client requests a new IP address, as seen in the log:
2020-10-03 16:10:36 [5] DHCPD: Recv DISCOVER from 08:00:27:73:01:64
2020-10-03 16:10:36 [5] DHCPD: Send OFFER with ip 192.168.1.105
2020-10-03 16:10:36 [5] DHCPD: Recv REQUEST from 08:00:27:73:01:64
2020-10-03 16:10:37 [5] DHCPD: Send ACK to 192.168.1.105
This happens with other three or 4 hosts with reserved addresses. I've done multiple restarts of the router and clients, removed and re-added the configurations, nothing seems to work. I even removed ALL reserved IP addresses and re-added them all, to no avail. This seriously messes up my IOT stuff setup...
Anyone facing a similar issue?

Not even IP & MAC Binding works properly. Here is an example for other host (which is both in the DHCP reserved addresses and IP/MAB binding lists):
And then, what happens when the client connects:
2020-10-03 17:37:09 [6] System: Device(60:AB:67:EA:40:CB) joins in 2.4G Wlan
2020-10-03 17:37:10 [5] DHCPD: Recv DISCOVER from 60:AB:67:EA:40:CB
2020-10-03 17:37:10 [5] DHCPD: Send OFFER with ip 192.168.1.106
2020-10-03 17:37:10 [5] DHCPD: Recv REQUEST from 60:AB:67:EA:40:CB
2020-10-03 17:37:11 [5] DHCPD: Send ACK to 192.168.1.106

Good day,
Thank you very much for your time and patience.
Sorry for the delay.
Have you updated the firmware to be the latest one:
Archer MR600(EU)_V1_200511
By the way, what is the region code on your Archer MR600, is it EU since I did not see your current firmware?
And where are you located? Did this issue start since you bought it?
Were these devices all smart IOT stuff?
Thanks a lot.

@Sunshine
Hey there,
My model is EU, I'm located in Switzerland (current hardware version is Archer MR600 v1 00000001).
I'm running with firmware 1.1.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 200417 Rel.75138n, the beta with 4G band selection. I can't use the oficial one without 4G band selection because it often defaults to other bands and my 4G speed tanks.
The issue happens with pretty much all types of devices (IP Cameras, IoT stuff, and normal computers / virtual machines). The router randomly just doesn't care about address reservation and starts handing out IPs from the DHCP pool instead of the reserved addresses I configured.

I have, though my device is a MR6400. It seems that the address reservation works sometimes - it worked when I first set it up. Something I've seen happen is that when the router reboots, and the devices reconnect to it, those with DHCP reservations get the wrong address; when I reboot the devices later, they get the right one. Looks as if the DHCP reservation module is not ready at the time the address assignations take place.
Sadly, this setup is remote, so I can't access the local network nor tinker with it until I go there.

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.
I see you have updated many related posts and could you please help me check the following information:
1. What are the hardware and firmware versions of Archer MR600?
2. Do you have any range extenders connected to MR600?
3. Did all your devices fail to get the reserved IP address? If not, what are the affected devices?
If you do not mind, please try to send the above details to support.forum@tp-link.com
Thank you again.
(please leave me a message if you sent the email)

I have exactly the same problem.
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 200511 Rel.44954n
Hardware Version: Archer MR600 v1 00000001
just 3 addresses are not bound correctly.
QNAP NAS server suppose to be bind to 192.168.0.8 but is bound to 192.168.0.108
maybe its coincidence but
reserved addresses -> actual address: (added 100)
192.168.0.6 -> 192.168.0.106
192.168.0.7 -> 192.168.0.107
192.168.0.8 -> 192.168.0.108
its super annoying.
is there any fix coming up soon?
