Model: Archer VR900
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: .2.0 0.9.1 v0069.0 Build 170303 Rel.59897n

The features on this machine for network analytics are sadly very lacking. Only one log file, the "system log", which apparently rotates every day meaning I can't access older logs. Even then, the entries are pretty bare - essentially just showing a brief summary of DHCP communications with my ISP, but not actually showing any of the details of those communications.

The "Diagnostics" page essentially just tells me whether I'm able to connect to the internet.

I'm wondering the following:

1. Are there any other logs kept in the back-end of the router which I'd be able to access, which might provide a better look at what the router is doing and the requests it's handling?

2. Is there any way to run a packet capture on the router?

3. Is there any way to SSH to the router without flushing the OS? - Port 22 is open but I understand that it's used for the application to control the router, not for human-lead command-line interaction with the router

4. If not the VR900, which home model supports the above features?

Thanks!

@ncowz

Good day,

Thank you very much for your kind feedback.

The current system log did not have so many details, and it might take some time to be improved.

We would report your feedback to the senior engineers for further evaluation, and thanks a lot for your understanding.

At the moment, there is no settings on the router that would help you monitor the packets through the router and you could search on the internet to see if there is any third party program available;

 The router does not support SSH as well and port 22 is used for Tether APP;

As for the network analysis log, you could have a look at our Deco products which used HomeCare and might have a much better network analysis report.

Thanks a lot.
