Model: TL-WN822N
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

Hello all,

I make use of a TL-WN822N V3 with a Macbook Pro and installed the drivers that were available on the site. At the time running version 10.7 of MacOS I believe.

However, with subsequent updates when my copy of MacOS Catalina reached around v10.15 it started throwing a message from time to time mentioning that the drivers would stop being compatible with the system soon.

I checked the same link I've provided above but no updates were available, however with MacOS BigSur v11.0.1 (20B29) the drivers are no longer compatible and the adapter does not work at all.

Does anyone have a solution and does TP-Link intend to update the drivers for this system update?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello all, I found a customer resolved his issue by installing the driver on his macOS Big Sur, you may check if you can make yours work as well:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/stories/detail/1642

Note: this may require to disable the SIP and give the authority of this App on your macOS, which is not recommended by Apple, it's up to you whether you want to try this.

Thank you @Kevin_Z, this worked a treat, I guess the SIP then needs to be enabled, right?

Hi, good to know it works for you as well. While we don't think it will work if you enable the SIP on the mac, you will need to keep it disabled to make the adapter work.

@Kevin_Z

Yes you are right, I followed my delight by enabling the SIP once again, and the TP Link went missing...not a heart beat, dead as a door nail!

I needed to disable the SIP again and reinstall the wireless USB software again as you initially explained, then reboot, et voilà, it works.!

Back in business, thanks again, rpg

laughThanks for testing that, you may need to leave the SIP disabled if you need this adapter to work, while our developers are working with the chip manufactures that we will release new driver for it in the near future, please keep an eye on the official website and wait patiently, thanks you very much.
