Model: TL-MR6400
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.1.0.0.9.1

Hi

From another thread I saw that i could download a beta version of firmware which would allow me to select a band, I have downloaded the firmware  (boot_up 200325) however I get an error when trying to upgrade. error 71211.

Basically I am using the Rain network and need to select Band 41 to be able to get decent speeds otherwise my speeds are less than 1mb.

If the FW in question is for another region then you can't use it on your device. For ex. if your device is an EU version, you can't upload a FW for US version and vise versa. You can check your device region on the bottom sticker.

@Ivaylo Thanks, just checked it is an EU device, is the firmware update a US one and is there an EU update perhaps?

@ImsJ

Hello, are you trying to upgrade to this beta firmware?

https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202012/20201208/TL-MR6400(EU)v5_1.1.0_0.9.1_[201113-rel63736]_up_boot_all_2020-12-08_09.38.45.zip

As per the error message you experienced (error code 71211), it seems that you select a wrong file, please check again if you download the correct beta firmware for your MR6400, you need to unzip the file first after downloaded.

@Kevin_Z

hi, I did manage to download it and install it thanks, hasn't made much of a difference unfortunately, seems that the rain network is just bad in my area.

@ImsJ

Sorry to hear that. sad

Are you able to test different SIM cards with it? If the Rain network is not good, maybe you can change the SIM card carrier to have a try.
