Model: Archer VR2800  
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 0.5.0 0.9.1 v006c.0 Build 201103 Beta.36058n

I've got the Archer VR2800 and its fine, but when someone else comes ot our house and they connect to our wifi, the connection becomes horrendous and keeps dropping out.

 

Never happened with previous routers. I have a 50mb line which is more than adequate to handle a few iphones on wifi

 

I've got s 2ghz and 5ghz split

Security is WPA/WPA2

 

Reading from other threads, i've seen people saying to disable the firewall (tried that but no effect) and also to disable "IGM Snooping" which i've also done (no effect)

 

Any other suggestions on what could help?

For wireless settings you should use these (for both bands):

 

 

Try changing the DNS settings like this and test:

Version and encryption were set as you showed.

 

However, Primary and secondary DSL was not set as you showed, so I've updated and I will test now

By "connection becomes horrendous and keeps dropping out" what exactly do you mean ? Describe the symptoms in details and observe the LED status of the device during these drop-outs.

@Ivaylo WIFI connection stays but the speed is very very slow, and sometimes even unresponsive

Have you tested your internet speed recently ? Can you post a screenshot of OOKLA speed test.
