WPA4220 v1.2 suddenly misbehing
WPA4220 v1.2 suddenly misbehing
I have a network made up of a WPA4220 KIT (V1.2) to which I have added two more WPA4220 extenders (V4). Until this afternoon they all worked fine, scattered across the house and all using the same SSID so users could roam around freely.
Mid afternoon the V1.2 extender from the original kit started to play up. Dropped WiFi and Internet outages.
I reset it and now it will pair to the Powerline network but I can find no way of cloning the SSID.
Pressing the WPS on the router doesn't work
Ethernet cable connection won't allow me access to settings.
I can see the extender in the TpLink Utility but there is no 'internet' buttn to allow me to access the settings.
None of the app based ulitites are compatible.
It exists as a standalone WiFi network that I can connect to independently and it works fine. I just can't get to the settings to align it to the main house SSID.
I have done all firmware updates.
Any ideas? It's driving me mad!

@dougc Hello,
If WPA4220 V1 can not see "Global" icon, please try below beta tpPLC Utility:

@dougc Hi,
I wish I could help, please connect to extender's WiFi, and try " http://tplinkplclogin.net " or "http://tplinkplc.net " to login its Web management page and customize SSID from Wireless settings. Some old version powerline extender uses http://tplinkplclogin.net to login Web, new version use http://tplinkplc.net
How to log into the web-based management interface of Powerline ac Extender (new logo)?

If the above does not work, may I know the Operating system of your PC and the version of tpPLC Utility, and also share a screenshot on the tpPLC Utility , thank you

Hi there.
None of those links work. They either go to error pages or to a holding page that tells me I need to use the TpLink utility.
I am using Wndows 10.
Here is a screenshot of the TpLink Utility. Device E395 is the one I am having trouble with. As you can see, there is no 'Website' icon on the pop-out when I hover over it. Both of the otehr dvices have this option

The Utiliy works and I have the little 'globe' icon now on the device.
When I click the icon I go directly to a browser window with the error screen pasted below. At no point do I get promted for a user name or password so I don't know how it can be incorrect?

@dougc Hi,
Thank you for your update.
Please delete the Browser cache & browsing history and see if this help.
Or you may need to set a different browser as the default browser to open a web page or uninstall current browser which pops up the Error.

Hi,
Thank you for your update, it looks like this Beta utility still need to be improved. "Device E396" is this one of your Wireless Power line unit ? Please click on other powerline unit and see if you see a Global icon.
If not, can you still identify which one is WPA4220 V1, please go to Basic-Version and let me know firmware version of your WPA4220 V1, thank you.
Here are some other suggestions that you could give it a try:
- As router will assign an IP address for Wi-Fi adapter, you cloud login to Wi-Fi router and go to Router's DHCP Client list to find the current IP address of powerline unit.Try to use IP address of Wi-Fi power line unit in address bar of your Web browser to login powerline unit 's Web page.
- For WPA4220 V1, we have an old Powerline Scan Utilty which can work on WinXP/2003/Vista/7/8, so if you have a Win7 or Win8 computer, please install this Utility, and click on “ Connect” button to login web management page:
- TL-WPA4220KIT_V1_Powerline_Scan_Utility
- Operating System: WinXP/2003/Vista/7/8

Yes, E395 is the device I am having a problem with. It is V1.2 using firmware 1.3.1.2141_00_422091_170519_904
I have logged in again this morning and the screen has changed again.
I can now see the global icon on all the adapters, including E395 but despite clearing caches as suggested, I still get the 'Password is incorrect' page when I try and connect. I have tried with 2 different browsers (Chrome and Edge) and its the same.
