Model: Archer MR200
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 0.9.1 v0001.0 Build 210120 Rel.67320n

Hi,

I purchased this router to have better performance  (better download and upload speeds) than the stock router provided by my ISP.

Specially to make use of both FD-LTE and TD-LTE frequencies that is being made available to my SIM by the ISP. Stock router seemingly only supports TD LTE.

I did everything I could based on materials available on TP link forums (even made use of the beta firmware version that was made available by TP-link in one of the threads, allowing band selection)

With the beta version of the firmware (after selecting the bands of the ISP) whilst upload speeds were consistently better, download speeds were so erratic and therefore the connection was useless. Thus, I had to shift back to the latest official version of the firmware.

The most frustrating part is when it comes to stability, reliability, consistency and speed (both download and upload) of the connection, the stock router beats the TP link router in all departments (based on several readings I have obtained from time to time using speedtest app (on my mac) and number of other speed check sites).

This has turned out to be the worst tech buy I have ever made.

Please note that no issues relating to 4G signal strength or WIFI signal strength are available. Everything is at 100% strength.

Any feedback from anybody would be greatly appreciated.

@HSG

I do get speed between 27.9Mb to 51.1Mb on MR200 and on same network using iPhone XR (LTE) i can reach 70.9Mb to 220Mb.   MR200 uses single Band and XR uses Carrier Aggregations (3 bands).

Tested with beta firmware (firmware downgraded to beta manual)

B1 = UL 86,6Mb / DL 47.1Mb

B3 = UL 65.1Mb / DL 30.0Mb

B40 = UL 66.8MB / DL 7.6Mb

@myag

The beta firmware supported CA band aggregation(dual band) and have you tested the speed under two bands(B1+B3)?

@TP-Link

I dont know if MR200 supports CA,

I tested on beta and it doesn't work on my data SIM. Should I swap SIM

Connection:

I should have checked my network performance before buying MR200 (MR200 also has weak wifi vs E5172s-927) . I can hit close to 1Gb on 5G using iPhone 12.
