Deco M5 FW 1.5.1 runs at 100Mbps on ethernet backhaul
M5's won't operate greater than 100Mbps on wired clients. But wireless clients operates at ISP advertised speeds (500Mbps)
Devices:
SFP fibre modem
TP-Link TL-SG1008D 8-port Gigabit Switch
1x Deco M5
2x Deco M4
Topology #1:
SFP Modem > Deco M5 > Gigabit Switch > two Deco M4's.
With this Topology #1, ALL wired clients are stuck at 100Mbps.
Topology #2:
SFP Modem > Deco M4 > 8-port Gigabit Switch > one Deco M4 and one Deco M5.
With this Topology #2, ALL wired clients WORK at gigabit speeds as expected.
No QOS enabled. All wired and wireless clients are getting IPs from the main Deco's (192.168.68.x subnets) in BOTH topologies.
Since Gigabit works when the M4 is Main Deco, and NOT when the M5 is the Main Deco, this POINTS to a firmware problem with 1.5.1 for the M5.
M5 is on FW 1.5.1
M4 is on FW 1.4.3

Were the other two satellite Decos connected to the switch via Ethernet cables or wirelessly connected to the main Deco?

As for the firmware for M5, there is a new firmware released recently and could you please update the firmware to be the latest to have a look:

All Deco's are connected to the Main Deco via Ethernet cable to the Gigabit switch.
Please see my Topology #2. When M4 is setup as a Main Deco, all ethernet clients negotiate at 1.0Gbps. It is only when the M5 is configured as the Main Deco between the switch and modem that ethernet clients negotiate at 100Mbps.
Refer to the following additional testing I've done:
Modem > M5 > Switch > M4 > PC = 100Mbps.
Modem > M5 > Switch > PC = 100Mbps.
Modem > M5 > PC = 1.0Gbps.
Modem > PC = 1.0Gbps.
BUT:
Modem > M4 > Switch > M5 > PC = 1.0Gbps.
Modem > M4 > Switch > M4 > PC = 1.0Gbps
Modem > M4 > Switch > PC = 1.0Gbps.
Modem > M4 > PC = 1.0Gbps.
Modem > PC = 1.0Gbps.

@TP-Link I got the same problem here with a 3pack m5.
I previously used 10/100 cables in my home, so I switched all of them to 10/100/1000 (giga) cables. The 2 m5 units that were plugged on 10/100 could not recognise the new 10/100/100 cable later, even after reseting both units (I guess the old 10/100 cables create an internal bug that blocks a giga recognition).
Only one unit that was never wired on 10/100 could work on 10/100/1000.
yes, all cables are working and tested by an expert and worked fully giga with other appliances.
I guess the m5 needs a firmware update to address this issue (unblock this giga bug).

May I know how are the 3 Deco M5 nodes connected to the network? It would be helpful if you could provide details info like tangpho, thanks.
Ensure the cables are working fine, which should be cat 5e or cat 6 cables.
Please also ensure you can reach 1000Mbps when connecting a computer directly to the ISP modem (the same LAN port where the main Deco is plugged in) after you upgraded the cables, this is very important.

yes, the cables are CAT6
The speed is stable, 240mbps, and we measured it with a computer on both ends and it got 240mpbs.
the M5 is blocking the speed (dropping it down to 100mbps) for sure.
One M5 gets wired connection (and drops 240mbps down to 100mbps) and the other 2 are wifi connected to the main one.

Please check the QoS settings on the Deco app, ensure it is correctly configured. You can also refer to these suggestions:

BTW, is there a way to check the negotiation speed on the ISP modem web page that if the main Deco M5 negotiates at 100Mbps or 1000Mbps? Try to swap the RE Deco nodes with the main one to check if this will make any difference.
