Hello everybody.

 

I created a wireless mesh network with one Deco M9 Plus as the main and three Deco M5 as satellites. The Deco M5s are v.3 and their firmware are up to date.

 

I recently realized that my computers are unable to connect to the Windows Update server.

 

I turned off parental controls and disabled the firewall and anti-virus, but I still can't update my PCs. They can't reach the Microsoft server.

 

Does anyone here know how to solve this? I checked some older posts here and noticed the users couldn't find the solution they were looking for...

What was blocking the Windows Update server was the "pay to surf" category, which was blocked on all PCs... since we let the children use them.

 

Everything went back to normal when I unlocked it. It took a while but I got it.

At my house we have three laptops, one HP and two DELL.

 

We also have an old desktop with Asus motherboard and Intel Core2Quad 9400 chipset.

 

None of them are getting access to Windows Updade.

@Elbetosan Just wanted to say thank you. I had the same problem on Win 8.1 and have spent hours trying to scan for errors and search update logs with no luck, until it occurred to me that setting up the mesh network was the only recent change.

Now the question remains is there any way to take advantage of the filtering without losing Windows Update?

Hi, did you also add the pay-to-surf category for Win 8.1 laptop under the parental control profile?

And once the category was removed, the laptop would update from the windows server?
