Which access point to couple to a group of RE220? (EDIT)
Which access point to couple to a group of RE220? (EDIT)
Hi,
I have five RE200 and one works as an access point to an existing network. I have discovered it could not work as MESH main driver so I need to purchase another access point. Which stand-alone TP-LINK access points are available with a LAN port too? Different target prices are welcome (cheap to most costly).
Also,are MR200 and MR600 modem able to work in ACCESS POINT mode? This solution is interesting for me too.

@GiuseppeC Hello,
OneMesh RE should work with a OneMesh router, do you want to buy a OneMesh router? For details, please check the compatibility list below:
But kindly note that RE does not supports Mesh in AP mode yet, it supports OneMesh in RE mode.
Here is a QA of oneMesh that may help : https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2690/
Q8. Can the OneMesh™ router’s AP mode support the function of the mesh?
A8. No. Only under the router mode, the OneMesh™ router can build a mesh network.
Q5. Can the OneMesh™ products support the Ethernet backhaul?
A5. No. The OneMesh™ products can’t support the ethernet backhaul. But the Deco supports the Ethernet backhaul.
Q6. How to set up a mesh network when there are more than two repeaters joining into the network?
A6. Generally we suggest connecting all the repeaters to the router for better performance. Uese can also connect one repeater to another repeater which already gets connected to the router, however we don’t recommend you to add more than two repeaters to one single link chain in consideration of the Wi-Fi quality.

I have an existing network as 192.168.0.x, with gateway on .1 , could I add a TP-LINK router to this network and let it work with the existing modem/router? (Which is not TP-LINK but proprietary to the network provider? If possible, I would then add all the range extender to the TP-LINK router.
Also, is possible, which one would you suggest, in the middle to low price range? (If any)

@GiuseppeC Hello,
May I know do you want to create a mesh network between router & range extenders?
If you use range extender in AP mode, sorry to tell you range extender does not support oneMesh in AP mode.
If you want to use RE in RE mode, please let me know your expected network topology, thank you.

Yes, you can add an Onemesh router to the existing Telecom router, but ensure the TL-Link router should work at Router mode, otherwise it cannot build up the Onemesh network with the extenders. You can check if you can change the Telecom router into bridge mode to avoid double NAT in the network.
However, as per the 5 RE200 extenders, we actually don't suggest you connect them one by one in a daisy chain, it is suggested connecting them to the TP-Link router directly. Check Q6:
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2690/

OK, RE220 will all be connected directly to a TP-LINK router.
Now I need to choice which router to purchase. I would like one with 4G fallback.
Is Archer MR600 V1 or MR200 V5 capable of creating this router to router connection and if the connection of the telecom router goes down, use 4G network as fallback for all the mesh devices?

@GiuseppeC Hello,
For the performance of REs and network stability of your whole network, we recommend no more than 3 range extenders wirelessly connect to the same router directly.
If you want to connect all 5 range extenders to the main router, AP mode (wired to router) is a better idea,in that way it could not enjoy the oneMesh benefit as AP mode does not support mesh yet.
Both MR600 V1 and MR200 V5 supports 3G/4G backup, and MR600 is more recommended if you want to connect 3 range extender to it.

Do you mean max 3 as:

ROUTER -> RE220 -> RE220 -> RE220

@GiuseppeC Thank you for your reply,
When range extenders connect to routers directly wirelessly, no more than 3 range extenders is recommended.
Router )) (( RE1
Router))) ((RE2
Router))) ((RE3
In below topology, they could work theoretically but not so recommended as the performance of RE#2 could be pretty poor.
Router )))((( RE#1 )))(( RE#2

Before you purchasing the oneMesh router, I recommend setting up RE in RE mode with your current router and verify the performance of RE could meet your daily usage or not.
Considering you have 5 range extenders, if you want to use them all, it is recommended to use then as AP if possible. But in that way, they will lose the oneMesh benefit.

My MR 600 is here, I have changed to "Router Mode" but I don't know how to let it route traffic.
My configuration:
WAN 89.xx.xx.xx
PFSENSE (with NAT)
198.168.0.1 gateway , internal network: 192.168.0.x MR600(Wired)

How should I setup my MR600 to connect to the gateway for the Internet traffic and to the internal wired network for 192.168.0.x?
