Model: Archer TX50E
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hello, I recently decided to replace my usb-wifi adapter with the TX50E to improve download speeds and latency. My old usb-wifi adapter usually gave me 250/250 mb/s speeds over 5ghz with a 500/500 connection at home.

However, after installing the card and updating the driver (22.70.0.6) I only manage to get around 100-150 mb/s download but my upload looks fine at 450 mb/s.

I have changed channel around from 36-60 but still the same results. I had a look in the advanced settings of the adapter and saw that the Channel Bandwidth for both 5 ghz and 2.4 ghz radio only has two options, Auto or 20mhz. Does that mean it can't receive 40/80 mhz? Could that be a part of the problem? I have locked my router to 80 mhz channel bandwidth for the 5 ghz radio.

I would appreciate all the help I can get in fixing this issue. Thank you advance.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I only have a WIFI 5 router on AC, and my previous usb wifi adapter was also Wifi 5.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Or is it not supposed to provide better speeds than an ASUS AC-56 USB Wifi adapter? If so, I will probably return the TX50e.

Thank you in advance.

@Seo11  Hello,

  • It is recommended to use different SSIDs for 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi, and make sure TX3000E is using 5Ghz  (11ac) band.
  • 5Ghz channel width could set on 80Mhz.
  • Disable the old adapter while test performance of TP-Link adapter

Can I have a photo of the WiFI link speed on your computer when connect to 5Ghz? https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2899/

At the same location, please test the speed and check Link speed on a different computer OR using old adapter and share the photo.

May I know the model of router and have a photo of router's wireless settings on 5Ghz.  Many thanks
