Slow internet in Windows 10/11 at 2.4/5GHz with Archer T6E | AC1300
Hello,
Last weekend I ordered the TP-Link Archer T6E | AC1300 via bol.com for my personal computer. The drivers were installed via the supplied diskette. Then I downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the website.
However, the drivers do not work well at all.
With the T6E I only get around 30 to 50 mbit/s while all other devices in the same place easily reach 300 mbit/s which is my maximum internet speed. The antennas are correctly aligned and have a good connection to the router.
I find it striking that the year 2014 is stated in the description of the latest driver in hardware manager. TP-Link is still selling the product but supplying outdated and buggy drivers.
Despite that, I tried to improve the connection.
The steps I took:
- Drivers reinstalled and updated. (Hardware manager says it is 6.30.223.228 while the website says it is V1&V2_200508_Win10 which is confusing.)
- Switched between 2.4 and 5GHz. (At 2.4Ghz I never even reached 10mbit/s.)
- Moving the PC closer to the router. (Even at 1 metre it was the same.)
- Antennas repositioned. (At best 50mbit/s.)
- Tried other drivers from Asus and Broadcomm. (They improved the speed to 150mbit/s.)
- Tried solutions at the TP-Link community. (Did not work and most posts are years old by now.)
When I was browsing the internet, I found a lot of people who have the same issue, especially on 5GHz connections. All their solutions did not work in my case.
Additional information
- Windows 10 21H1 (Works as bad on Windows 11 21H1 and Linux Ubuntu.)
- Hardware version of T6E is V2.
- Link speed router is 585mbit/s. (Ziggo Connectbox.)
- 5GHz connection at channel 44. (Other channels did not improve the speed at all.)
Does anyone know how I can get the same internet speeds with the T6E as the other devices? It would be very helpful.
Thank you in advance,
Thomas
