Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.4 Build 20210807 Rel. 46250

I have added a user to the HomeShield Parental Controls, added a device to this user and selected 'Adult Content' in the Filter Content category.

 

I have checked some URLs at https://global.sitesafety.trendmicro.com/ to confirm they are categorised as 'Adult / Mature Content', but this user can continue to access adult content.

 

If I manually add URLs to the Blocked Websites list then the sites are blocked.

 

Can you please explain how the automatic content filtering operates? Is it a DNS based service? I ask because I use Cloudflare DNS and am wondering if this could be a reason why the content filtering is getting bypassed.

Hi, nice to see you again.

Any chance you could send these websites via private message to me.

For the HomeShield model, it does not use TrendMicro anymore and it is Avira Antivirus system.

Thanks for your quick response. Try pornhub.com as an example site.

 

How does the HomeShield content filtering operate? I use Cloudflare DNS and so if it's a DNS lookup based solution then this might explain why it's getting bypassed.

  @TP-Link any updates? This is happening on my Deco X20 and even some website bypass the filter when manually added. 
 

If this doesn't work then it kind of defeats the whole purpose of filtering and really me buying this product.

Hi, it might be a little different for your Deco X20-V1.2 since it used HomeCare service which has a different filtering database.

May I know what are websites you tend to block?

If you go to profiles>insights>history and click these websites and manually block them here, will it work?

  @David-TP i have the same issues and has always been an issue since purchase. Clearly a feature that doesn't work.

  @Bernardnz this is clearly broken.  I have a camera that causes Gryphon to flip out and throw all sorts of phishing and malware site warnings.  Home Shield says I have no cameras in my network.

 

I did the same test for adult content.  It doesn't block a thing.  

 

I like the app, the pricing is good and if it worked it would be great.  But this appears to be why it's a free 30 day trial.  Or in my case, a 30 minute trial.  If you fail on the easy tests, I have zero confidence it will catch the hard stuff.

Did you use Deco lab>Wi-Fi Assailant>Detect cameras to check whether there would be any cameras within the network?

As for Adult content filtering, could you please do me a favor and leave me a private message of the websites that you have tested failed to be blocked?
