Unusual problem with internet connection.
Hello. I bring to you a problem I cannot seem to fix on my own and genuinely has me confused.
I have a TP LINK TL-WR430GD V4 (I checked the back of the router) 54Mbps Wireless router. I am aware that this model is quite old, but mine is in good state, have been working for the past... dunno, ten years or so. I HAD TO SUBMIT THE WRONG MODEL ABOVE BC I COULD NOT FIND MINE IN THE LIST.
Usually I have this router connected via LAN cable to an antenna, the one that receives internet signal via satellite from my ISP provider. That's how this router has always worked, perfectly fine I must say. All devices in the house were connected via wireless to this router except the smart tv, that works via LAN (we could not connect it via wireless no matter how hard we tried so we left it wired, figured it was the TV since the others smart devices were just fine)
On December 23th my ISP provider had a shutdown for 3 or 4 hours. When internet was up again, I had not touched the router nor the cables, like I usually do. We had internet for about six hours after that. Then suddenly it dropped AGAIN. Thinking it was my ISP provider, I left it that way till next morning, when I called and asked if everything was ok. They said that my router was OFF (it wasn't) and that I should try rebooting. And reboot I did, unplugged the energy and plugged again. Magic, Internet was working again. Didn't thought much of it.
40 minutes later Internet was down again. Router seemed fine, all lights were green in the right places (WAN, LAN, POWER...). It was weird, I decided to reboot not only the router but the antenna as well (just in case). Again, internet was working again. And, like before, 20 minutes later it stopped working. At this point I was aware that we had a problem. I was nearly Xmas eve, so I couldn't do much. Decided to unplug the tv from the lan wire, and connect the laptop via lan to check if I had connection via lan and it was the wireless the one causing problems. No internet was found. So I rebooted the router. Internet worked again, for another 2 hours or so (we saw a movie in the tv with no issues), and then it went down AGAIN...
For the next hours I have tried:
Changed the Lan cable.
Done a Hard Reset on the router.
Left the router with not energy for 10 minutes and reboot.
Left the tv unplugged.
Turn off all smart devices.
Changed the channels of the wireless connections.
Changed the protocol to 11b.
Updated firmware.
Reboot to factory settings.
The ONLY THING that worked was: leaving the router connected via lan to my notebook AND connecting the rest of the smart devices via wireless to the router at the same time. While my Notebook is plugged via LAN, the connection seems stable and working just fine. If I unplug the notebook and leave it wireless like the rest of the devices... it last 40 minutes and we loose the internet again.
The wireless stops working in all the devices, from android, win 10, win 7, to the smart tv. I am using a dynamic IP in the router, no firewall enabled, no dynamic dns.
Without further ado, I say: HELP, IM LOSING MY MIND. DO I HAVE TO BUY A NEW ROUTER?
