Hello @chiukp, thank you for reaching out to us and welcome to the TP-Link community.

I would suggest you update and install the latest driver for the Atheros AR9285 adapter first since it is the only one having a problem connecting to the network. You can also search online for solutions as I found there are others also reporting the same wireless connection issues with their Atheros AR9285 adapters.

BTW, is this Atheros AR9285 adapter our TP-Link one or other brands?

  @Kevin_Z I am having a similar issue.

I am on Windows 7 using an HP4530s Probook.

Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 adapter updated using Device manager window and running automatic detection of latest software. Properties indicate the drivers are working properly, and my laptop is picking up the wifi connection with excellent signal strength from the TP-link router but no internet connection. I get the message: "Windows can't connect to the hidden network TP-Link_1956".

I am able to get internet connection if I use my mobile phone as a hotspot. Also, I can connect to TP-Link from mobile phone and from tablet. I was able to connect perfectly until a week ago when I re-set my router because of connection problems.

Hello @Tlhogi84

Are you using the Archer C6 router also? Can I have the screenshot of the wireless settings on the C6 web page? You can mask the SSID and password for any security concerns.

Is the Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 adapter connecting to the 2.4G or 5G network? As per the error message, it seems you are using Hidden SSID on the C6, what if you broadcast the network, will the Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 adapter connect?

Please check the suggestions provided in the below thread to modify some settings on the router to see if the Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 adapter can connect:

Failed to connect some devices to TP-Link wireless router, but all the others work properly?
