Hello and thank you for letting me in this forum. I just bought this powerline kit and have installed it with my father in law. It work's fine but when looking at the wifi icon on the imac there is no padlock with both adapters. Does this mean they are not secured? All other wifi connections shown are secured other then these two. The main router is in the livingroom downstairs and is the one there is shown on any wifi device in the house. And it's secured with password. Is everything okay even if the two adapters don't show as "locked" secured?

Thanks for reaching out to us. 

Please make sure powerline product you purchased is TL-PA8033P KIT because this powerline kit doesn't have wireless feature. It only provides wired connections.

I think the wifi icon on the imac may be from your neighbors. 

 

If you indeed have a powerline device with wireless feature, you can refer to below guide to set up password for the wireless network

@nikom Hello. Yes the 8033P kit doesn't have wifi. So no worries about safety? Strange though about the wifi icon next to the extender on the mac:)

Hello  @nikom 

That seems to be the nearby open Wi-Fi network that requires no Wi-Fi password, that  won't affect your home Wi-Fi/ wired network.
