Model: Deco X20
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 2.0.3 Build 20201120 rel 58079

Its actually a version 1.2 NZ

Have 3 nodes.  Main is upstairs etherneted to router, node 2 is downstairs and node 3 is in the garage/office about 10 paces from node 2. Node 3 and node 2 are roughly in line of sight of each other. I cant get node 3 to connect to node 2 even though node 2 is way closer than the main node.  How do I get node 3 to daisychain off node 2. Am presently using the wireless router (recommended) operation mode, should I use the access point mode instead? Or any other ideas.

Hi, the operation mode might not be related and it is suggested to have a look at this link:

Manual Signal Source Selection on Deco

since the distance is not the only factor that decided the signal source, the position of the satellite units and the barriers around all needs to be concerned.

Have you noticed an issue when RE node 3 did not link to RE node 2?

  @David-TP thanks Dave, so Deco is deciding that if the 3rd node is connecting to the main then thats the best fit?  Is just that the wifi signal is down to 2bars in the office but node 2 still has 3 bars, is there a fix for x20's as I didnt see that in your link ? Thanks in advance for your help :)

  @Allan_Nicol67

Hi, you could send an email to support.forum@tp-link.com with the information mentioned here in the recommended solution so that the engineers could help us run a further check whether Deco made the right choice for signal source.
