I can't find this option, it's just set to automatic by default. i need to switch 2.4g channel to make it discoverable by mibox device

In Range extender mode, extender repeats Wi-Fi signal of router and will use the same Wi-Fi channel as router.
You could change the Wi-Fi channel on router first, and reset and reinstall the range extender, then RE follows router's Wi-Fi channel.
For reference, here is how to change wifi channel on tp-link router, you will need refer to the manual of your router to change chanel settings
