Deco X50 blocks the upload for Zscaler
Hello
I have recently bought Tp-link Deco X50 and somehow in router mode the router blocks all upload traffic, while connected through Zscaler VPN (required for work).
Hence, the connection becomes unusable and it is not possible to use Deco X50 in router mode.
I also have old Tp-link Archer C9, which does not have this issue. So I am currently using Tp-link Archer C9 as a router and Tp-link Deco X50 in access point mode.
Ultimately, I would like to get rid Tp-link Archer C9 and run Tp-link Deco X50 in router mode, but that is currently not possible, while connected through Zscaler proxy and VPN data center in Sao Paolo (Brazil).
Would anybody please know, if there is a possibility to turn off Deco Homeshield completely or configure the security settings of the router accordingly to allow to work with Zscaler?
For potential buyers please note that Tp-link Deco X50 (I assume it is going to be similar for other Deco products) is VERY limited and can be a deal breaker for many.
Thank you in advance for any hint how to resolve this.
Lada

@Martin1977 the solution at the moment is for a guy from them to remotely connect to your laptop and do some configuration. Given the fact that I only have the work laptop, I could not accept this ..
At the current moment I use it as an AP, but I bought this device to use it as a Router so I will give the current router back to the internet company .. so It's not the solution I was looking for.
Maybe in the future they will fix this issue for us .

OK, same at my site not possible to give access.
My company have now updated Zscaler to version 4, which helped the last two days.
Regards Martin
PS. Do not understand why TP Link wont share the setting which are required.

OS: MacOS Ventura,
hard: M2 air
Same issue for AX1500 Wi-Fi 6 Router
And it works fine for Acher AX55
Tested with DNSs
- 8.8.8.8
- 1.1.1.1
- 8.8.4.4
As workaround:
I'm connecting via phone to the router and sharing a connection, in this case, it bypasses

@David-TP Has there been any update on this issue? I've got an X55 with the latest 1.2.5 firmware and I'm running into the exact same problems with ZScaler on a work provided laptop.

Hi, were you having the same issues before 1.2.5, like 1.2.2 and 1.1.0?
Have you ever tested the work laptop on a different network to see whether it could connect to the work VPN using Zscaler?
Did you try to change the WAN DNS server on Deco to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8?
I see a user mentioned " The company has now updated Zscaler to version 4, which helped the last two days", and what is your current VPN version?
thank you very much.
Wait for your reply.
best regards.

Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone has had luck in resolving this issue?
I am using the TP-Link Deco X55 and have had similar issues with zero upload speed when using Zscaler on the work-supplied laptop.
This is on firmware 1.25. Zscaler is on version 3.8.
I have attempted utilising the Google public DNS (8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4) which does not resolve the issue.
I have since swapped back to an old Netcomm MESH18 router and that has worked fine with Zscaler.
Regards,
Danny

@David-TP I have the same issue with my Deco and zScaler. Do you have updates on how to fix the issue?

I've just found this thread after spending many hours trying to setup a new X73 as my modem. It works fine for most things but my work laptop is close to unusable, and yes it uses Zscaler.
When I switch back to my Vodafone router and put the X73 into AP mode, it works perfectly.
Did anyone find a solution to this?

Hi @David-TP,
I see this issue aswell on my work laptop, it seems upload is limited to max 6mbps when using Zscaler.
When I connect to my work VPN using Cisco VPN client my upload speed returns to 600mbps, which is strange as I would expect VPN + Zscaler to be slower than Just Zscaler.
I have come to the conclusion that the Deco software is limiting Zscaler due to the amount of traffic being tunneled through the same Proxy address, treating it as a flooding attempt thus throttling the connection.
