TL-WPA8630P v1.0 Web Client upgrades

Model: Adapter

Hardware Version: V1

Firmware Version: 1.0.4 Build 170327 Rel.74918n

Have update web client firmware to 1.0.4 Build 170327 Rel.74918n for this HW v1 device.

Have separately updated the plc firmware to v2.10.

Q - can the web client be upgraded beyond 1.0.4 Build 170327 Rel.74918n which is stated as being the latest for this HW revision on the TP-Link website?

For instance, HW v2 has TL-WPA8630P(UK)_V2_220407 and HW v2.1 has a web client upgrad per TL-WPA8630P(UK)_V2.1_2.1.1 Build 20220605 available.

Are any of these web client upgrades for the v2 and v2.1 HW, compatible with the v1 HW device?

Please advise.

Thanks for your inquiry and detailed post.

Different hardware versions are not compatible with each other, this mean V1 need to use V1 firmware, V2 uses V2 firmware.

For TL-WPA8630P_UK_ V1, it can still use the V1 firmware rather than V2 or V2.1 firmware.

Hi,

Thanks for responding.

Decided to flash the TL-WPA8630P_UK_ V1 HW device with a suitable build of OpenWRT i.e. v17.01.4.

Thus far, this seems to be working ok with no issues.

This build of OpenWRT offers more features than the TL-WPA8630P_UK_ V1 latest web client made available from TP-Link.
