Dont want to return because works well with everything in the house but I have to have it connect to my phone or all else is worthless.

Sorry for the late reply, may I know do you have the range extender?
Please confirm other network devices like an Andriod phone or latops can connect to the wifi of the range extender after setup.
You could try some tips in Case5 if only one iphone can not connect to the Extended Wi-Fi network.
Case 5 : PS4 / IOS devices fail to connect to RE's Wi-Fi network or failed to get an IP address
