bandwidth usage in the app is only updated when I click on a specific A/P where the connected devices are listed, never in the main screen.

Indeed, the issue was first noted after adding the X50 to the network. I re-created the wi-fi network but nothing changed.

FYI, if I switch to Router mode the bandwidth meter seems to be working but the thing is I've always been using A/P mode.
