@Mbauer5 After further testing re the tun0 speed, it appears to be per client. i.e I can have multiple clients all downloading simultaneously via the vpn and each one seems to hit around 20 mbits.

Maybe thats something we can look at.

CPU wise the unit does appear to have plenty of capacity available during heavy usage on the vpn.

Mem: 274972K used, 123272K free, 0K shrd, 547634616800K buff, 367499130424K ca
CPU:   4% usr   6% sys   0% nic  84% idle   0% io   0% irq   4% sirq

Not much going on there.

I will play around with parental controls and the anti malware services, maybe they are trying to inspect the traffic, possibly the encryption on the tunnel is having an impact.

VPN hasn't dropped at all though over 3 days, very stable which is great.

I think if this version gets to a release, it would be fine for you based on your current internet speeds.

thanks ian sounds great!

Hi  @Ian_D @Mbauer5 ,

I have the exact same issues as both of you with Open VPN.

I'm looking forward to the new version although in my case the speed issue could be an issue for streaming on my TV.

Thx for the effort you have put in this.

Hi  @Ian_D

Is there a possibility to already have access to the beta version?

I'm on version 1.2.2. Build 20230301 Rel 53300.

@Festijn Not sure if this will help but under testing of the L2TP, the speed is approx 60mbits per client.

OpenVPN is still around 20 - 25mbits for some reason. Need more testing to identify the cause there

@Festijn keep monitoring the forum and this page for updates

I cant share this beta version as it is, the beta needs to come from TPLink

@Ian_D Thank you for the link.

I can only use OpenVPN with my VPN provider. So I'm looking forward to the next update. Possible slow speeds is still better than not working like it is now.

Just trying to build a picture of what doesnt work for everyone else on the previous firmware

  @Festijn

Hi, what is the OpenVPN Server that you wish to connect to, NordVPN, PIA VPN, or something else?

If possible, Could you please send an email to support.forum@tp-link.com with the following information:

1. Can you connect the mobile phone or laptop to the OpenVPN server via the same VPN config file?

2. Can you attach a copy of the OpenVPN config file to the email?

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

Wait for your reply.

 Hi  @David-TP

It's via Nord VPN for my case.

I follow there procedure for Tp-link and download the UDP file from there recommended server utility.
I set up the vpn client via the deco app via my phone and it shows connected. But when I add clients they loose Internet connection.

It's not clear what file you expect me to send to the adress you specify.

In any case this is the link from Nord VPN that I follow.

Best regards

Festijn
